Tom, I suspect snow won't be a problem for the skiiers. We've already had 3 storms with about 8" total snow, and that was before the kids went trick or treating. (The last storm being earlier that day.) Most of the white stuff is gone now, and the farmers appear to be getting the rest of the corn down. We're looking at an artic blast early this week, but I hear it's even going to be cold in Florida. They say we (Midwest) are in for a very cold and snowy winter. Warmer climates are really starting to call to me, but I still have this working wife that doesn't want to retire yet, nor change jobs... As much as I want to get out of Wisconsin as early as possible, after the chillier last two gatherings at Hontoon, and the colder and snowier winters putting a chill on getting the boat out and prepped to head south, I'll be voting for at least a week or two later on the future gatherings. May just have to start positioning Midnight Flyer closer to Hontoon at the end of the summer boating season. Confused Colby

Hi All
It's fun to see the early sign ups and look forward to seeing everyone at Hontoon next March. I will check with the park about dates for 2021. If they are agreeable to go a week later for 2022 I will put it to a vote at this years gathering.

There are usually C-Dorys on the St. Johns a couple of weeks after the gathering. Don't miss the river just because you can't make the gathering.

Jackie......hopefully the guys will have enough snow to ski the Birkebeiner. You never know for sure. I sure loved to cross country ski in the day. Now I'm content to "boaterhome" up that way in the summer.

Joyce and I are going to take the C-Otter out for a few days and will be stopping at Hontoon.

Later....Tom

However, we cannot come this early in March.
My husband and son (and grandsons) have to ski the Birkebeiner
in Wisconsin the last weekend of February.
Maybe if it's a little later next year???? : )

Hoping for 2021!
Jackie & Bob

Tom, the coming CBGT at Hontoon is Mar 3-5, 2020. Are the dates for the 2021 gathering already set with the park? Just wondering why the possible 2 year delay for the date change?

No reason for delay other than the 1 is next to the 2 and even spell check could not help me with that. 😇
2021 is the correct year for possible change.

I just signed up. I attended last year for the first time (brrrr!) and had a good time. I have an Atlas Pompano 23, a downeaster design but similar to the C-Dory Angler 22 with a large open cockpit. Look forward to seeing y'all again.

We look forward to seeing you at Hontoon (and environs). The pre and post trips are really great, if one has the time.

We usually get there on a Thursday or Friday, mid day, so that the ramp is not a crowded as on the weekend. You should still be fine--and get the cell phone number of some of us who are taking the "pre trip", to find out where we are. I realize you are also coming some distance, so it is not easy to change plans. Marie had to re-arrange a hair appointment--one of those things which seems to have to be scheduled months in advance. We guys are lucky--just stop in the corner barber shop and get er done!

Good traveling!

I'll be there. Sounds as though I need to put in at ramp there on 44 and leave the "rig." Stayed there at Hontoon Landing this past June. Didn't even go over to the park. How many slips are available? And I suppose they're first come, first serve right...with no reason to reserve one?

Do we need to bring some firewood? Never really been to a GT by boat. Also interested in the pre and post trips.

Ed Stone is where most of us park. No need to reserve slips. There are about 35. They want to use local firewood and the park has been supplying it.

I have not decided yet which direction I’m going to go after the gathering. Last year we went North to Jacksonville. Too many choices. A couple of weeks ago we explored a side river that we had never been on.

Only a few months to go...Tom

As of now, assuming we are not snowed in, we will probably get there Friday and launch. Likely moor at Hontoon by Sunday night to get our good spot. Mr. Green If the water is high enough, and we don't do anything else, I think we skipped pancakes this year, so we may head there next year again before the gathering. Colby

If the stars align and the weather behaves, Wendy and I will be there this year. We hope to arrive early and leave late, participating in any pre/post trips.
