I am wanting to add trim tabs to my new to me 22’ cruiser and was looking for a shop to mount the tabs on the transom correctly. Does anyone have anybody they use? I live in Kitsap county but am not averse to traveling a reasonable distance. Thanks |

The correct way is to locate where the screws will be for the trim tab plates, drill past the length of the screw, potentially into the balsa core, hollow out behind the drill hole with a ball end rotary file drill bit, and fill the cavity with thickened epoxy. I also had to drill a small vent hole above to prevent trapped air when filling. Doing this your making a water tight plug behind the fiberglass for the screw to bed into. Screw your hardware into those plugs using some 3m 5200.
I know a lot of shops in the area, but you might consider doing it yourself to ensure its actually done correctly.
That being said, high on my list if you didn't want to to do it yourself would be EQ marine in Cornett Bay, or Bitter End Boatworks in Bellingham. Just be very clear what you want done, because most shops are just going to drill holes, and screw the tabs onto the transom with a dab of 5200. That's all the c-dory factory did after all. _________________ 2007 22 cruiser sold 10/2021

I have had Friday Marine Works in Sequim do some work on the boat and have been very happy with their work. You will be talking to the people that do the work, husband and wife team, no middle people and capable craftsmen. Randy is a licensed captain and they know their work.
Friday Marine Works, Randy @ 360-689-3083
PS: They are in the process of moving their shop so be patient. Be specific on what you want.

Make sure what ever shop you use will do it the way described above. Most will not. they will just drill holes and pump a little sealant in there and call it good. That is the way most boat shops will do it. You may want to look for a boat yard for this job. I would do it my self but thats me. I have the time place and some experence. _________________ Thomas J Elliott
