Sebastien, check out the Sun Power semi-flexable solar panels they are very light and efficient.
The optional comforts we have added to our boat I guess toss out the window my old KISS principal simplicity!
Looks like you are making good progress!

Bob, Jonathan replaced that 70 hp with 115 hp Yamaha! It was on Salty when we were at Honest John's Fish Camp in 2017! He really can really fly with that new engine!

Note they have a "Claw" anchor. Many of us would not say its the best anchor--but it works! There is no basket of hundreds of feet of 8 plait braid on the deck. There is no dinghy, no kicker; A 70 HP Yamaha (the first engine wore out).

I think most of your questions were answered. We didn't do the whole loop... just from FL through the Erie Canal... best adventure ever.

I do have two comments. One relates to your budget. We almost never anchored out because we really liked exploring the little towns along the way, going to museums and also renting a car to landmarks a bit farther away.

We didn't bring a dinghy and didn't miss it AT.ALL. We brought folding electric bikes and they were used only a handful of times but were fun to have (also took a lot of space so next time I'd do without). What we did bring which you might not have considered was a small, approx $100, window air conditioner. We rigged up something in the front window for it and it really made life bearable during the hot humid summer. (Again, not useful if you are anchoring out) Sometimes we just set it up on the floor of the cockpit and it still helped quite a bit. Yes, we looked a bit ridiculous but it worked.

We used a sun shower on ocassion but mostly we were in marinas with facilities.

Don't forget gloves for the greasy locks.

We found we brought way more than we really needed which is always the case (an extra anchor for example).

So if your budget allows for marina fees, then I would skip the dinghy.

just to bring this thread up to date, Sebastian and Tasha left their boat on our lift during a Christmas Holiday, and moved on just after the first of this year. When I last heard from them a week or so ago, they had done some time on the St. John's River and were headed up the Atlantic Coast ICW, pretty much on track to finish doing the loop in about a year. A lot will depend on where they track and cross the outward path.

I used to boat in the mid Atlantic region. An AC unit is pretty much mandatory in the summer there. We also used it on the Erie Canal in late Aug. and September. I have a window AC unit that goes in the center window and a fan that blows the cool air from the cabin into the v-berth. This works quite well. A small Honda generator (EU1000) on the swim step is quite capable of running this AC unit when shore power is not available. Having an extended run tank for the generator is also handy.

Only disadvantage to the window AC is that you can't really drive the boat any distance or at speed while it is in the window.
