Hi, I just purchased a new gps/fish finder with a transom mount transducer. My old one sat inside the boat (loose) in the bilge well (stern) and worked great. I just wanted to upgrade. My question is this... How do I get the cable to run along the starboard side (inside)? I am afraid of hitting other obstacles and don't want to drill many holes. I am considering exterior mounting. Any advice?
While I got ya, Sounds like 1/4 to 1/2 inch below the lowest bottom point is the censes here. correct?

thanks a bill

I just replaced my speed wheel/temp sensor on my transom. As we have different models I can't give you much advice on how to run the cable. However, when I was removing the old cable from the transom i realized that the through hull hole in the transom that this cable passed through was pre made by the factory. I'd examine the interior and exterior of your transom and see if there is filled through hull just waiting to be drilled out to run the wire through. _________________ Conrad Metzenberg

I have a lot of experience installing transducers and recently installed three on my CD22. PM or email me with your phone number and we'll chat. _________________ "Ain't no nookie like Chinookie"---Ray Troll

I recently added a second GPS and transducer to my 2005 19 Angler. I used a SternSaver and was very pleased with how it worked. It wasn’t cheap, but it saved me from drilling any holes in the stern. I ran the cable out the steering boot, through the stern scupper, and down to the SternSaver. I did attach it to the kicker bracket on the way down. Works great.

Is there any interference between the two transducers? Are they in the same area or different parts of the boat? _________________ Gypsy

Gypsy, I currently run two transducers on my 22. One for an older Garmin GPSMAP 541, the other for a newer GPSMAP 840. One of the transducers is on the port side the other on the starboard side, about 2 or 3 feet apart. Most the time there is no interference between them. I'm not sure if they use the same frequency or not, but I assume they don't. The newer one also has the down chirp and I know it works on a different frequency. Colby |

I run two transducers side by side--and have had zero interference issues--just run on different frequencies--modes. _________________ Bob Austin
