Tough, smart and thinking outside the box. Rough life, with high costs and big payoffs. Great story with Interesting outcome. I actually got to see that vessel in Portland. Didn't know they were shredding brand new cars.

A friend of mine works for a company that unloads cars from the big boats and transfers them to the trucks/railcars that deliver them to auto dealerships. He says that in the case of cars damaged in ocean transit if the damage can be easily fixed it is done when the car is unloaded. If not easily fixed the car is shredded.
