we are new to C-Dory's and looking for our 1st C-dory 22 ft is there a difference between years other than the year and hrs of the outboard motor? They all seem to be the same layout. Any suggestions

The major change to the layout, was addition of the "Barber" sliding forward seat, so the navigator was facing forward. (My Admiral--Navigator) wife has always sat in the aft seat so she could put her book, or gear on the table, even in the 25 and Tom Cat, which have convertible facing seats.

There are a few "commuter" models--which have bench seats on each side--I have seen one with the dinette on one side and the bench seat on the other.

I personally prefer the non sliding seat. I believe that the fiberglass interior didn't come along until either late 2007 or early 2008 for the 22. The 25, was late 2007.

The location of bilge pumps changed, from aft sump (all boats should have this) to a forward cockpit outside the aft bulkhead, and 2006 with a step inside the cabin, a slot for water to drain into a sump, inside the cabin, under this step--best for when the boat is at rest.

There was an option removable 2 piece level floor in the 2002 to 2006 era--then the solid in place cockpit level floor. I had the two piece and liked it. No water trapping or leakage issues. But the floor as bottom of the boat (slight "v" to it, with "dry deck" or some foam mats on the floor worked well for us in a 1993 boat.

The type of door, availability of opening aft door window, and some changes to the bulkhead varied by year.

In the 1997 to 2006 there was no hull change, and options were about the same. Fuel tanks may have varied in size by a few gallons. The "cleats" on the cockpit floor were glassed in in the 2005-06 era--which is an improvement over the screwed in cleats or aluminum brackets (these may have been responsible for soft areas in the core, and water intrusion if the screws were not well sealed.)

The fuel injected Hondas did not appear in the 90 HP range until 2007. I would rather have the injected 90, but Have owned two with carbs, and as long as you drain them it is fine. The injected engines have later alternators.

Some owners have removed the V berth bulkhead to make bunk access easier.

Camper canvas is desirable. So is a windlass.
