Found this via another forum. I have no interest in this boat.

My thoughts:

1. Cute.
2. Rare boat, very few produced, a novelty, for sure.
3. Would make a great tender for a good sized trawler or tug big enough to hoist it aboard.
4. Also would make a great harbor runabout / cocktail cruiser / water taxi for protected waters.
5. Great conversation piece at a CBGT!
6. Asking price is in the same range as a CD-16, which is a significantly larger and more seaworthy boat outside of protected waters.
7 Add $5k-$10K and buy a CD-22 Cruiser which is at least 4X the boat in many dimensions, capability, flexibility, usability, and much more sea worthy. (A VW Bug vs. a VW Kombi Microbus Camper.)
8. Still awfuly cute! Laughing

Looks like maybe they put the 16 cabin on a smaller hull.

That would make a nice deck tender for a larger boat in the PNW.

Not only would, it does. I’ve met & talked to the owner of this Yacht & CD 14 on several different cruises in SE Alaska.

So, would that be for your next one, Jason, or the one after that? ; >

I’m not aware of it doing any ocean crossings. The owner, Steve Oberto has taken it to SE Alaska most years for the summer, since I took these photos of it at Red Bluff Bay, in 2007 & I think he had been doing so for several years before. I was told by another yacht owner, this boat was original designed for use as a trawler in the fishing industry with Steve Oberto having it converted to pleasure craft. What made it so interesting to us is along with the C-Dory, he was carrying two Mokai’s & we with a C-Dory towing a Mokai. I think he has spent more time in conversation with us, due to this.

Jay, thanks for reposting those photos of Maximo. Coincidentally I spotted the same boat in Fisherman's Terminal one year ago. Interestingly, not only has Maximo changed colors (no longer in the Oberto livery), but so has the C-Dory 14 on top.

Regarding the 14 which is for sale in the OP. It has been on the market here in Seattle for about 2 years now. Last year it was for sale, without a trailer, for $13,900. The seller at that time (private party) stated it had been a tender on a yacht. Then sometime in the last year the ad changed and the seller was now a dealer, Waypoint Marine, and now with a trailer for $14,900. Considering the trailer costs about $1k new, the price has not budged in 2 years. Usually the 14's are listed between 7K or 8K (and sell pretty quickly due the cuteness are rarity). This seller is apparently in no rush.

Mike, & thanks to you also as you just answered something that puzzled us last year while cruising SE Alaska again. We met the Maximo right at the entrance of Red Bluff Bay & due to its color change, we didn’t recognize it until very close. The strange thing when we called to say Hi on the VHV it was a a female who answered & there didn’t seem to be any recognition of us though they were polite. That in contrast to when Steve Oberto heard on the VHV on a previous cruise that we were coming into the SITKA Harbor & he met us at the dock, where we talked for awhile about our cruises during the then previous years since we had last met up. So now, I know he wasn’t even there when we conversed with someone on the Maximo last summer. Whoever was on it must of thought those folks who on the little C-Dory sure were forward & strange.

Jay
