I am trying to decide my cruising schedule for this summer and am interested in the possibility of pairing up with another boat to do some exploring near or around Vancouver Island togethr.

Places I may be interested in going to include:
    Nootka Sound
    Hot Springs Cove
    Tofino
    Coast north of Campbell River
San Juan Islands (only after Friday Harbour gathering)

I prefer to anchor and to avoid the crowds so I tend to do places like the San Juans or Gulf Islands or Desolation Sound during May, June, or September.

I am interested in hearing any suggestions or advice about any of those places.

Places I have been include:
    Desolation Sound
Jervis Inlet and Princess Louisa Inlet
    Sechelt Inlet and Skokumchuck Narrows
    Broughtons
    Alberni Inlet
    Horby/Lasquiti/Texada Islands

I am happy to share insight about the places I have been in case anyone else might be interested.

I'm also wondering in anyone knows anything about the West Sound Corinthian Yacht Club. They seem to have low rates and lots of reciprocals.

We will also be at the Friday Harbor gathering. Sounds like you have been to a lot more places than us. We would love to share stories with you about travels at the event. We plan to head to the Broughtons after Friday Harbor.

My purpose in getting a boat was to explore the coast and I'm retired so I have lots of time to do that.

Pack warm clothes because the Broughtons can be cold and wet, although I was lucky the year I went and it was really nice.

A lot of people head north and completely bypass Lasquiti and Hornby Island and those are places that I really like. If you don't have time to stop, I would at least try to go between Texada and Lasquiti Island and maybe stop at Jedidiah Provincial Park for a walk on the way up.

I look forward to seeing you at Friday Harbour.

My boat is still being repaired but I am hopeful it will be done in time to pack and go to Friday Harbour. This is not the right time of year to try to get someone to work on your boat.

We hope your boat is repaired in time so that we may meet you at the 2019 Friday Harbour event. Thank you for the information.

Sandra, So Many Islands, so little time. Do hope to see you at FH-CBGT. Do you know anything more about the BC Ferry not having the Vancouver Island Promotional fares this year. Doesn't seem like a good idea for the island economy.

Hope you boat work is coming together well.

Found this on BC Ferries. 1/2 price on whatever you are towing on selected sailings to Vancouver Island.

BC Ferries also has a Sunrise/Sunset promotion so if you plan carefully you can take advantage of both promotions at the same time.

https://www.bcferries.com/promotions/sunrise-sunset-savings.html

It is $49 Canadian for car and driver and then you can combine that with $3.25 for each extra foot over 20 feet. Of course, I'm guessing many people will try to do that, but you can even reserve for an extra $10.

It actually makes it affordable to come to Vancouver Island or to for those of us that live here, to take our boats to another area.

Thank you Salmon Fisher for posting the BC Ferries information.
Many of us have been waiting to see if it is happening again this year.
