This may have been asked before, but I couldn't find it.
I recently purchased a 2007 Angler 19 and it has a sunbrella door to the sleeping cabin. I'd like a lockable door.
Has anyone created one or does C-Dory sell one?

Thanks in Advance!

Personally I like the sliding door that Rosborough uses - not sure if you could rig one in a Cdory or not.

Regards,

Rob

Petros: Anything is possible with money. But it seems like a very PRICEY modification.

I agree that it would be nice to have one though. I wonder why 19 never came with one?

I have a 1992 CD19. Maybe the first 19? Anyway, it has a lockable door. I’ll take and post an image of it within the next couple of days.

Our 19 has double locking doors with windows built by RMatey, a previous owner. They are nice to have but we don't use them much currently due to the way we have the cockpit enclosed.

Nice to know Greg and Ron. Thanks. My old 19 had the canvas back.

Any suggestions for Petros?

Just to clarify are you asking about the rear cabin bulkhead or the entrance to the cuddy from the cabin?

I just want to be able to lock the cuddy, not the full cabin. I don't want to add a lot of weight.

If I were just locking the V Berth area, I would make a set of "wash boards" such as sailboats often use for companionways. You bolt a strip of wood stood off, slightly more than the depth of the wash board, on each side. The boards slid into the space between the forward bulkhead and these vertical wood strips. The top board has a padlock hasp, secured to the upper lip of this opening. The boards are wide enough to easily fit above the opening, and slide in place. I would put some holes in these for ventilation. The difference is that sailboats usually have a sliding hatch, as seen below

More obtrusive would be bifold doors--but these probably would get in the way of both the helm and navigator's seating if open., Also not as secure as the above.
