I was just looking at random boat stuff and came across this thing...what a great idea...and the price is not outrageous ...Worth a look..

If you fall overboard and get outside wireless range it stops the motors...

That is a life saver for some. I've seen videos of a lone person onboard falling into the water while the boat is either going in circles or continues on course.

As a persistent, (I'd like to say perpetual -- but I know better than that Rolling Eyes singlehand boater, I have looked at this device before, and could find no downside. From what I remember, the price was a bit higher, but I may be confusing that with the configuration required for a twin engine operation.

Thanks for bringing it back to my attention Joel. Safety is always a concern.

There's a CD-16 for sale on this site that has such a device installed already:

NEW! CD16 Angler (1985) in Springfield, IL $16,000

I remember reading the ad just yesterday.

I have used a fell marine device for two seasons. The device works perfectly by theory and practice.

See my photos under boat name OPA herein (sidebar link) for photos.

Howdy, and great to hear from someone who is using the Fell System. I looked through your photos. (Looks nearly like an Aircraft Carrier Wink with that shiny blue). I did see the Fell System and looks very good. But I didn't see any antenna for that system. Where did you put that? that was one of my concerns about putting it on my 22. I am getting space challenged for electronics.

antennae is located on the FELL receiving unit located on the helm (the black round thing next to the tilt and trim gauge in the photos).

The actual antennae extends INTO the cockpit about 4" on the back side of the unit located at the helm. Very easy to install and works very well. You don't need to worry about anything extending into the cockpit area.

Info here (including photos): https://buy.fellmarine.com/mob-basepack.html

What I like most is that the motor won't start if I walk away from the boat. I

If I reach into the water to grab a a fish, the FOB doesn't trigger the boat to stop because it;s not in the water long enough. I've submerged the FOB for about 10 seconds, and the motor stops. I can restart the motor almost immediately

Cheers

Thank you, I forgot that the antenna is on the back of that switch thing. I have a very crowded helm deck, so I was looking to install the switch on the side of the cabin wall.

I still think this is a really good device for anyone who single hands.

Works great for me. I get a lot of last minute cacelations when I gish Lake Michigan. When the big lake is fishable, ya gotta go, so sometimes I gotta go it alone. This device, and wearing an automatic live jacket makes me feel a lot safer.
