I shouldn't be looking at boats on craigslist. I always thought these would make a perfect PNW cruiser.

Dangerous waters Mark. It seems well priced.

What a beautiful classic boat!

Perfect for someone who loves maintaining a Wooden Wonder.

Would best be dry-sailed (stored dry inside a structure) when not actually in the water in use. (IMHO)

Would be a great Harbor Cruiser for a yacht club member or someone who lives on the water with their own dock.

Add a Hydro-hoist and a covered berth and you'd have the ultimate retirement marine toy.

Damn good thing I'm too old and too wise to be lured into the Devil's Den at 76! Laughing

Dream on...........!

For more eye candy....check out the listings at West Yachts in Anacortes, which include several Sam Devlin built boats and one 27 foot Maple Bay Pocket Trawler. All of them are some multiple of the asking price in the craigslist add. The Maple Bay boats are great if you want a classic and economical cruiser, but slow as they are diesel powered for hull speed and efficiency at about 6 knots I would guess. 35 HP. They have an extensive range with a 100 gallon tank.

Have fun looking, you don't have to always be on the water to enjoy boating!

I was up at Cap Sante this weekend admiring those Devlins for sale on the dock. Didn't get any photos of the current ones there, but here are a couple Devlin Surf Scoters they had for sale earlier this year, a 25 and a 22. The 22 on right powered by a 50 hp Yamaha. Good looking designs and the Devlin-built boats are absolute top quality. Not clear if the one Mark posted above is a Devlin-built boat, or from plans which are also available. Sounds like maybe the latter since it was built in Portland.

On the dock at Conover Cove, Wallace Island was a "Tide Runner" mini trawler, 22 ft, displacement hull boat with a 3 cyl diesel, Nice, (not much wood), but max cruise was about 9-10 knots. The 1 gal per hour sounded nice, but you need longer weather windows.
