|
|
I saw a picture, in one of the member albums, of a steering setup in the cockpit. (Sorry, I forget whose album it was)
This looks like a great idea, especially for single handing.
I looked at the factory site and it does'nt look like a factory option. Who would install somthing like that?
Is it hard to do (i.e. expensive)?
The install looked very proffessional. I would guess it's not a do-it-yourself item.
Thanks in advance for your help. _________________ Sgt. Jim |

Seabass-
The two most prominent C-Dorys with dual helm that come to mind are Ron"s Snoopy-C, and Gary's SeaRam. Here are their album addresses
(Snoopy-C's) http://www.c-brats.com/modules.php?set_albumName=Snoopy-C&op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&include=view_album.php
(SeaRam's) http://www.c-brats.com/modules.php?set_albumName=SeaRam&op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&include=view_album.php
We also have two discussions on this topic:
(Snoopy C's) http://www.c-brats.com/viewtopic.php?t=234
(SeaRam's) http://www.c-brats.com/viewtopic.php?t=2435
If you look up the topic Yamaha "T-8" with a search engine on the greater www you may also find that this kicker engine can be ordered with fully remote wireless starting, autopilot controlled steering, throttle control, and a bracket that controls tilt/trim and lowering of the motor into the water, or most of all of that!!! (Does not mix sundowners, to my knowledge.)
This is a very complex topic, and just as much fun!!! This will keep you thinking for awhile. Joe. _________________ Sea Wolf, C-Brat #31

Sea Lion also has a rear helm.
There has been a lot of discussion about the topic.
You need to have hydrolic steering to have the second helm.
I wouldn't be without mine now that I have had it. I love it.
Here is a pic from my album

I hope this helps.
The search button is a beautiful thing but sometimes the search words aren't obvious. Tons of good info here and more added every day. _________________

Although hard to reference, it IS a factory installed option. It is presented as an option on the 25' Cruiser, but also can be had on the 22 Angler, 22 Cruiser, 25 Cruiser and 255 Tomcat. Like the Anchor Windlass, it is not listed on every model. We have one in stock, but it will be a long drive.

C-Dory installed my aft steering station (take a look at the photo album). The dealer (Alaska Mining and Diving) installed the steering and controls. Yes it was expensive, surprisingly so, but the ability to control the boat while trolling and to be able to handle lines while docking, is very useful. _________________ John & Susan |
