OK, so the new to me C Dory appears to have a Perko 1209, 2 pin base for the all around light. I can find all sorts of replacement mast and light only setups for other bases, but only the spendy base and mast combo kit for the 1209 base. I'd LIKE to just keep the base and buy a new light, but having troubles finding that. Any suggestions? _________________ Doug in Friday Harbor

Doug, West Marine has had an LED replacement in various lengths. If the don'thave it in stock, it should be in the catalog or on line. I replaced my stock light several years ago with the LED and longer length to clear the top of my inflatable, and reduce electric consumption.

Dave, that link is for a bulb only, and not LED. No riser or base.
Maybe I missunderstood what he is looking for.

Just to clarify, I'd LIKE to replace only the mast/light assembly, not the base I already have. Worst case scenario, I'dd buy the whole kit just to get the mast setup I need (want), but since that is in the vicinity or 80 bucks, as opposed to just the mast/light setup offered for other bases at 20 bucks or so, just wondering if i'm missing a resource to get what I'd really like to have.
Thanks for the input thus far! |

My OEM was made of stainless steel tubing, the light assy at the top was stainless (read heavy) which concerned me in rough seas. The replacement LED is about 10 inches longer, and seems brighter, I think due to the cool white LED vs the incandescent from the OEM.
I did not have to replace the base, only the mast.

Hardee, any idea what the part # for the replacement you bought was/is? |

I had to replace the anchor light that came with my boat shortly after I bought it. It was not the original light as it fit in the base, but did not have the screw cover attachment. The incandescent bulb in it fried the fixture. I assume that some water got into the base and shorted it out. I found a replacement with an LED bulb on Amazon Canada. It works fine, but I now seal the base with electrical tape when I install it. _________________ Peter & Judy Haase

On my 22, I needed a new light only--and bought a fairly in-expensive LED 360* light fixture, and "JB Welded" it into the old tube. A quick look by Googling "LED 360 degree anchor light" in Google it brought up a number of the glass, and LED units starting at about $10 to $50. Watch to be sure that the wiring will work, and that you can solder or crimp the wires, cover with adhesive shrink wrap, and put that down inside the old tube, or be able to connect the new tube to the old base. _________________ Bob Austin

I don't always put my "All around" light up, but when I do, I wrap the connection at the base of the mast with Rescue Tape. Keeps the water out of a not too practical design, as far as water intrusion is concerned.
