Or....am I just looking at the wrong type

We are using the formaldehyde-free stuff (Campa-Chem - a Thetford product). If we are using the conveyance regularly (boat or RV), it needs to be dumped within 7 days. If it is getting irregular use, we just put a bit more in as needed. Especially if the weather is warm.

I just looked at the package, and don't see where it says only good for 7 days anywhere

The holding tank only holds 9 gallons, and if you can go for more than 7 days without pumping out--OK Generally a couple will produce more than 9 gallons of sewage in a week....but we always pump our boats and RV's out at least once a week.

We have used the enzyme treatment systems with good success. Also there is the "good bacteria" treatment. Be cautious of using toxic chemicals, which suppress odors if they are going into a septic system.

We use Happy Camper holding tank treatment for our truck camper and the portable toilet in our C-Dory. It is biodegradable and has a live bacteria in it to help break down waste and keep the odor producing bacteria down. We have been using it for many years and will not use anything else. Check it out on the web.
