Yep, Les has another one in the oven. Congratulations Mark!
I like your list of "jewelry"......you even ordered a big Johnson as well.
The finished product will be a "work of art" by Les and Kathy. I'm thrilled for you! _________________ Dave S.

Hey old buddy,
Ya done good! I'll have about 100 hours break-in time on her for you - and maybe a couple of fish in the box.

Thanks for the comments. I'll admit we are hyped up a bit in anticipation.
Will be driving down to pick it up and tow it back up. When I get back to Fairbanks with it I might have to take time to grab a few winks, load up and head for Valdez and PWS.
Hey Sawdust, appreciate your breaking it in for me and scattering some fish parts around on it. Reckon that will make it feel "reel" comfortable. |

Mark,
My pleasure! I know it's painful, but I'll do it.
Why I stay down in this area:

This could interest a lot of the old salts!

Mark, how about "3rd Byte", "Best Byte" "Big Byte" or "Dory Bit"? "Last Byte" kinda closes the door for future upgrades. Dusty's a good example of leaving yourself open for yet another C-Dory, in fact how about a contest in which we try to guess how many C-Dory products Dusty has owned? Not that I'm jealous or anything!

Hey Sawdust,
I admire your tolerance for pain and your willingness, no,.........eagerness,
to go the extra mile in the accommodation of a fellow mariner. I am in your everlasting debt!
Wow, that is some real serious icing conditions. Very impressive pictures. The topside weight caused by severe icing has been a death knell for a number of boats over the years.
Take care and see you soon. |

I see your point Chivita Dave. "Last Byte" does sound kind of final doesn't it. Actually Les came up with the best name and even though it is repeatable in mixed company, it will remain nameless here. Primarily because I think Les would like to save it for one of "his" future boats. I would feel a bit guilty sniping it out from under him. Eh Eh!
At any rate, until the boat gets the name placed on it, we will keep an open mind, hmmmmm.
Doing a dossier' on the Dustmeisters C-Dory products might be doable, though not without considerable effort. Doing a complete one on C-Dory's, plus, would be a daunting task which reaches beyond even my wild imagination. |

Wow, Mark. She's going to be a beauty.
Two things you might consider, now that I've had Da Nag out a few times with a similar configuration:
- Lencos. Love 'em, but I'm not getting enough lift when things are heavy - full tanks, full water, cooler in back, 3 people on-board. I don't have a fin on the main; I'll probably add one, but I think I'd go for the next size up on the tabs if I did it over again - Les can tell you what size I have.
- Trailer winch. This is one of those "nice to have" options, but I love it. Fulton makes a big, 2-speed winch - I think it's the model 3700. The handle pops off using a spring-loaded clip for switching between high/low gears. That low speed is incredible; I easily cranked a fully loaded Da Nag about 4 feet up the bunks the other day - a little kid could have done it.
Congrats - you're going to love it.
On edit...
Just checked, I have TT12x9E's - 9" hinge length, and 12" depth. I'd opt for 12x12's if doing it again - there appears to be plenty of room for them with a single/kicker/swim step setup.
By not enough lift, I mostly meant lateral trim. With two seated to port and the load described above, there is not enough adjustability with 12x9's to level the boat - close, but not quite. _________________ Will, C-Brat Nerd |
