This is the kind of thing that makes my head explode. Simply because it's a simple fix or rather a "don't be sloppy from the start". I replaced the Marinco shore power plug with a Smart Plug. The black wire insulation was slit about 2" up the wire. Angry I slid marine shrink wrap over it, the kind with glue, so now it won't be an issue. This is on a 2007.

Pics in our album.

Good reminder for all of us to check the shore power connections! Thanks.

Yeah, thats frustrating. Good choice on the Smart Plug. Much less chance for a wire or plug to burn.

Mark,
I would like to think that after you read my post from yesterday on this thread

http://www.c-brats.com/viewtopic.php?t=26577&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=

...that you immediately drove over to Fisheries Supply and bought and installed a SmartPlug system for your 2007.

Is that the way this went down?
If not, I will be sorely dissapointed.
A good move in any event...most 110v electrical boat fires are at the 70-year old poorly designed boatside shorepower inlet. A great $200 investment, 4 screws, 3 wires, and much easier than changing out a ceiling fan.
I'm almost sure I convinced John Macleod today to get one.

Pics of burned plugs and near-fires that went out when the wire burned through in album (and almost identical pics in Roger's TC255).

Happy Smart Plugging!
John

I replaced my shore power plug and receptacle with SmartPlugs after a faulty connection took out my battery charger.

Among other things it makes plugging things in so much easier. Should have done it a long time ago.

Search for them on sale. You can save significant $ if you look.

You get what you pay for in the labor world, your lucky they were in the correct holes. I had a 1991 22 cruiser, the 12v wiring was very professional/clean install. The 2003 25 I now have was a wiring MESS when I purchased it. Same kid probably wired your 110V.

We have 50 and 30 amp shower power cords plus 4/6/7 wire cords on our house trailers. We have constant issues with bad connections. This product has solved all our problems:
