Anyone with a 115 Honda on a 22 Cruiser? Looking to prop at sea level. Will be testing at 3400 ft. and start with a 15 pitch prop until about 5 hours of operation. That should give me an idea of the proper prop for that elevation. Going from the correct prop at 3400 ft. up 2" for sea level and and down 2" for 7700 ft. Will try to prop at 5600 to 5800 at WOT. All suggestions more than welcome. The fewer props tried the better. Lew |

Hi Lew, somehow I missed this post earlier. Did you re-power?! Congrats! The Honda 115 is large displacement and DOHC so I'd think the 15" prop should be a fine starting point at that elevation. Can't remember if you have trim tabs on your boat? You did have Permatrims on the twin 35's, correct? You'll probably want one on the 115 as well. Keep us posted and report back, we don't see many Honda 115's on the 22's, and I've always been super curious about it! Cruising speed, low plane speed/RPMs, top speed, and most importantly, how are you liking that brand new motor compared to the old setup!

The 115 is the same block as the 150, and has 850 more cc displacement than the 90 or 100 hp. I suspect its torque will be much higher than the 90 also.
I often used the sea level (15") prop on the 90 at Powell, The 13" would go a little faster, and get to max WOT of 6000, but I was still at 5400 with the 15", and the RM were significantly higher at displacement speeds. If you go to "prop selector" the best prop for a boat about the weight of the C Dory 22 lightly loaded is the 17". I would go with a 15" at 3700', especially if you have much cruising gear and food aboard. _________________ Bob Austin

I've got the Mercury 115, and not sure how it compares with the Honda. However, I've found the right prop for me is either of these two:
Solas Rubex 4 Blade Aluminum 13.25" dia. X 13" pitch SR.
Mercury Black Max 3 Blade Aluminum 14 x 13.
WOT gets me about 6500 with either prop. I run mostly at sea level to 600'.
So how did the repowering go Lew? Going from the twins to the single, did they do a pretty good job filling the holes? I'm sure it'll be a big difference for you going from twins to the single. You looking at a kicker now?
BTW, if you need a 4 blade prop, I have an extra one, the Rubex 13.25 x 13 that I'd sale for $50. Colby |

I believe Rubex series takes a different hub for some of the newer Honda 90 to 115 RBX 107; other than the MercRBX102 (which will fit Honda 75-90 HP, 1995 - 1998, 15 spline propshaft. |

Just got back from Yellowstone. Wind, Snow, Rain, not the place to be. Put 17 hours on 115 Honda in 2 and 1/2 days of mostly water. 15" prop maxed out at 5125 rpm's. 30 mph at 7730 ft elevation. That prop may be very good sea level. WOT is 4500 to 6000. I'll think about it when my brain is working better "if ever" Lew |
