Our dog does not care for car rides or the boat. He manages, but it is clear that he is not happy. He is a homebody and prefers to stay home. If he happens to get out of the back yard, he comes around to the front door and barks to come in.

Years ago, some family friends from BC would spend extended time on their sailboat with their two cats. There were times when they had to fish one or the other out of the water in the middle of the night.

Some dogs just love to be on the water...And Miss Angel is also a cat lover. Many cats who react negatively to dogs, find out that she is their friend.

When we were living aboard, there were many cat "live aboards". One day one of our neighbor's were very upset that they could not find their boat cat. I went aboard out boat--we had been traveling for a few days. I had left a porthole to the head open. The cat had jumped in the porthole, and could not get out...She was fine...but never came aboard our boat again--that I know of.

We have friends who have sailed around the world with cats. They do great on boats.

Our boxer dog (Juno) hates it when the boat is underway. He constantly jumps from the V-berth to the cabin floor and back again. Or, plants all four feet kind of spread wide apart on the cabin floor with a look that says "Please make it stop!".
On the anchor, or at a marina he is fine and loves a good dock party.
Here he is at anchor:

Chris

Hey Chris, Great to See Juno again, and looks like familiar territory. And looks like he is looking for Terra firma. Maybe he doesn't like dock ramps much either Wink

Thanks for sharing the pix.

So, I go on this site often because there is a wealth of info, a lot of interesting reads and I own one. I get a lot of compliments, and love being a part of the C Dory crowd (here). As I read all the different questions, replies and answers, and of course the humor... It makes me wonder- so I am just gonna ask...

You guys seem like animal lovers, Where is the pride in your best friend? I am being honest, I really expected a better response.

Not mad, Just curious.

Well, I'm pretty proud of the stuffed cat Tyboo's daughters gave me in 2005. It's black and white, and looks a whole lot like my recently deceased buddy, Buster. It sits on the dash and keeps me company, because there's no way an actual cat would be happy periodically cruising with me. A live-aboard certainly might.

The point of this thread is pics of pets on boats. Our pets stay home when we go boating, so no pictures of them on the boat.
