Kidde has recalled nearly 40 million extinguishers. http://www.kidde.com/home-safety/en/us/ I checked mine in the boat,RV and house. All are on the recall list. I also went to the local boat ramp and conducted some Vessel Safety Checks. All 23 boats I contacted had recalls. So you might want to check yours. They go to the Kidde page and fill out the form for a new one.

I see H10G listed on this page

https://s3.amazonaws.com/inmar-adx-files/N130284/US_Plastic+Handle+Product+ID+Guide.pdf

It is pretty much any that has a plastic handle. They made them in red, white and silver and under various other brand names. All of mind had the kidde name. Down in the lower right corner is a list of model numbers. On each of my extinguishers I have found the first listed to be on the list. In my case FA5G and FA10G.

Try this link. Two different types.

Thanks for this. We have four affected units. 2 in the boats and 2 in the house. A couple of smaller newer units slipped through and one other.

All four of ours were on the main submission list and not in the watercraft option.

Good thing Kidde is owned by United Technologies, this could be devastating. UTX can aborb it

I have a new fire extinguisher on the boat I just bought this past year. I also have two older ones at home, manufactured in 1975. Yep, all are on the recall list. Online forms submitted.... Colby

Hold no one cotton-pickin' minute. You mean to tell me that a unit manufactured in 1975 is "defective"? Seriously? Neutral

I had one in the house that was built in 1983 but still showed as good on the gauge. I kept it next to another newer unit of course. It was on the list and will be replaced! I have not tried it yet but I will tonight.

Greg, Please, let us know how the test run goes. That could be very helpful (and interesting.)

I had an even older one that I decided to "blow" a few months ago, just to see if it worked. (I already had more than I felt necessary...) Worked great. "Dusted" my entire large city pickup garbage can! Oh, and BTW I meant to say 1995! Mr. Green Colby

The 1983 Sears branded unit blew great and emptied quickly. My confidence in old safety gear just when up slightly.

I took mine out of the bracket a few month's ago only to find out that it was empty. It was the little CG minimum BC extinguisher. Not a Kidde, but this thread reminded me to order a new bigger one. All of my Kidde extinguishers in the shop are much bigger and not involved in the recall. Still, it's not too comforting to look at how old they are. I can't think of anything that would increase the chaos more than running up to the fire, squeezing the trigger and, nothing.

I had a Kidde recalled on my boat. It is being replaced. And I have a CO2 extinguisher that I have carried for 7 years. I have had it checked twice. All good. I believe the CO2 would be my first choice in a time of need, because there is so much less damage cone by the CO2 than the dry powder. Of course, depending on the fire, that may be a non issue.
