A mono hull will list badly if all on board go to the side where a fish is getting landed.

Gene,
C-Dorys don't list while netting a fish if everyone on board goes to one side because of their flat bottom where boats like the Striper do because of the deep-V. |

The single most important reason to not tow at maximum weight is emergency situations. When the wind is gusting or there is a ladder in the road or more likely some fool in the road passing you or tail gating you or whatever. I've made emergency stops towing 8000 lbs of fifth wheel in my 1500, Jacknife and spin. No one hurt. I've had similar such stops in my 2500 and the extra weight of the truck, better suspension saved the day.
The tow ratings on trucks are no more practical than the stated weight of a C-Dory 25 is in their brochures. Both are impractical.
For general up and down mountain, summer heat, and emergencies, three quarter ton trucks are the minimum for a 25 class boat. A 255 puts you into a big ol' diesel. _________________ You can tell a man his wife is ugly, but never ever criticize his dog, his gun, his truck or his boat.

Thank you all for some really useful info. I believe the cruiser will be my choice, especially with Inslee's new energy tax looming on the horizon. _________________ Steve |

Well said, but I can't leave this perfect blend of scenery and harvestable wildlife. |
