Jim.

Where we will be staying every night is on the float plan that I thought we had sent to you. A link was also posed on this thread to our float plan. If you do not find it give me your email and I will send it to you. Thanks.

Dear All:

We will be leaving next Saturday (9/1) to start our road trip to Granville, Tennessee. Kath and I are getting excited about this trip and we are looking forward to it.

Dr. Bob has arranged some exciting activities for us when we tour Nashville. A local C-Dory owner (Bill) that lives in Nashville has graciously offered to host us in his home City. We are looking forward to these activities and having a local host.

Please be ready to leave Granville Marina promptly on Monday September 10th at 8:00 AM. We will have reservations to cross the Cordell Hull Lock that day about 10:00 AM. That Monday (9/10) is our biggest mileage day of the whole trip at 83 NM in order to get to Shady Cove Marina Monday night.

We will be taking our truck and trailer to Mike Waggoner's farm in Granville on Sunday afternoon, September 9th.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone in Granville, Tennessee!

Safe travels!
Although we won't be with the group, we are stealing your careful research so we don't have to do any...or not much. And I thought I was a bit O.C. disorder!
PS I thought rivers were marked in statute miles, not NM (nothing much nautical about the Army Corps of Engineers, vs the Navy's 200 years of Tradition Un-Impeded by Progress, as AF pilots like to say...but their runways don't move about much).
Best,
John

Jim, safe travels to you and the rest making the road trip out. I'll miss joining you guys this time, but look forward to hearing about the trip. If you do get ahead of schedule on your road trip, you would be more than welcome to stop in to visit with those of us at the Alton gathering. Enjoy that road trip out also! Colby

The credit goes to BillE, who only a little over 2 months ago bought his first C Dory; a 25, which he is using in the Nashville area. We met they at the last Apalachicola gathering in 2016. They live right downtown in Nashville--and will help all of us on the cruise enjoy the Nashville area. They have also arranged for our second night to be at a Yacht Club a little ways out of the city, probably a welcome relief after a night right in the middle of one of America's great cities! We are also looking forward to seeing their "New" 25!

Thanks to BillE and his wife!

On our side, we have just finished up all of the work on our "new" 25, have loaded the gear, and are starting to put on food for our month trip. E/H brakes go on the trailer monday, and I hope to get "air helper springs" and an upgraded transmission cooler on the Yukon early this next week.

Looking forward to seeing everybody! I need to get a list of how many people, and their contact info, and how many boats, and the sizes. We will provide a BBQ dinner at the Yacht Club marina on Thursday night, leaving Wednesday night for everyone to explore downtown Nashville. The YC will charge $1/foot plus electric if desired. There are clean toilets and showers with AC if you want a break from the boat. There is also ethanol-free gasoline and a pump out station available. The YC is not near any attractions other than a WalMart shopping center a couple of miles away but if you need anything we can drive you there.

Bill:

There will be 6 C-Dorys, and 11 persons total. There are 4 (22'), 1 (23'), and 1 (25').

There is Jim & Kath on Pounder, Floyd & Eiko on Far C'r, Bob and Marie on Thataway, Lew on Cat Claw, Jim & Loree on Jenny Katz, and John and Kitty on Firefly.

We will arrive Shelby Street Bridge Transient Dock on the afternoon of Wednesday, September 12th. On Thursday, September 13th we would be pleased to stay at your yacht club (Mile marker 172).

Bill, thank you for all your efforts to host our flotilla. We appreciate the Southern hospitality. You may call me at (916) 799-0286 if you need further information.

Thanks Bill!! Great offer! I will send you the contact information by e-mail. I specifically invite you to come down and look at our 25, and we would to love to see your 25. I doubt that we will do any partying, but we may visit with our relatives who live in Brentwood and central Nashville. Also do you have any suggestions for great restaurants near the downtown dock?

Any dietary restrictions in the group? Any vegans?
We are planning a Southern BBQ dinner focused on Pork and Chicken but can accommodate most anything if given notice.
Anyone is welcome to PM me and let me know what you need.

Hi BillE!
Make room for us, also.
Added since you were last aboard at the 2016 Appachicola gathering is dual 12" Garmin 8212 displays, HDX24 radar on a Bob Austin PVC Commode Mount, hailer/auto foghorn, AIS 600 tx/rec, SS handholds aft overhangs and over water inlet, 2nd Armstrong dive ladder mount at bow for beaching, Victron 702 battery mgt system, Blue Seas P12 40A charger, and a fair amount of gray hair.
Dietary: Neither of us likes beets, but they are not a standard in most BBQ.

Your frustration with the 'rat's nest' of electrical under the helm may take years to correct. At 5 years we're still plugging away at it after quadrupling it. Patience, Brother. Or, a pro can fix it for a few more Boat Units. With any boat, it's always a few more Boat Units. Glad you joined the club.
Cheers!

Jim, we're getting close to leaving in a few days. Going to visit kids and cousins along the way. This is the most excited Kitty has ever been about a boat ride. Can't wait to see everyone.

BillE, the YC get together sounds wonderful. Thanks for putting it together. John Purvis, "Firefly".

I did a write-up on our cruise on the Cumberland and Tennessee Rivers that we did in May 2018 that may be of interest. www.glen-l.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=33192

I will also be back on the Tennessee River Sept. 5-23 cruising round trip from Kentucky Dam Marina to Chattanooga. Will be spending several days at Halls Bar Marina with other boat builders of Glen-l designs.

OK, while we DO have enough slips reserved for Thursday 8/13 we may be short on electrical hookups. So, can anyone do without hookups for the night?

BillE

Pounder is fine without electrical hookups. We hardly ever use them as we try to be minimalists.

Thank you for all your efforts.
