Nothing etched in stone yet, but I may end up joining some others in September on a cruise down the Tennessee and Cumberland Rivers that would likely preclude me from joining in at Lake Powell this year. However, if this moves into October... Colby

Things are not looking that great for any increase in the water level in Lake Powell this summer with the snow pack in the mountains so far this winter.

Thought I'd better update here. As of now, I am planning on joining the group doing the Tennessee and Cumberland River cruise Sept 10-24th, so will not be available to join at Lake Powell during this time. Think we need a big C-Brat calendar to keep all the events on different dates! Mr. Green Colby

Unless there is open rebellion, let’s lock in September 22, at Oak Canyon. I’m not sure what day we will be on the lake, but will probably be at Oak Cyn a day or two earl in order to stake out some territory.

Eileen and I are planning to be there on C-Casa. We’ll be able to solidify plans as the date gets closer.

According to this article it doesn't look like there will be any gain in the water level in Lake Powell this year. Not to worry though, there will still be plenty to cruise and enjoy this lake.

The lake is still higher than it was last year only 3 or 4 feet right now. Still lots of water. The press is painting it as the end of the world because we had a bad water year, of course last year we had a great water year and got 2 years of water.

Hi Everybody,

The boss of me (Diana) and I were talking about when we wanted to be on the water, and it looks like we are going to try and splash the boat around 9/13-14. We will spend a week or exploring, then head to Oak Canyon for the CBGT on the 23d. My best guess is we will launch at Bullfrog and stay in the upper end of the lake.

If you're thinking/planning on going, please add your name to the signup sheet.

Hope to see you there!

Steve

We are planning to be on lake powell the month of september and as long as we feel like staying. We have bought a (new to us 2004 22 cruiser with a 50 honda and a 9 kicker) no we are not in a hurry to go anywhere! We are in our 70's I have never owned a boat before and frankly the whole idea scares the crap out me (especially launching it with my wife) but this has been my dream for more than 5 years (a c-dory on lake powell) it is why we moved from Oregon to St George and I am going to do it or die trying. So actually hanging out with some of you might be a God send.

Congratulations on buying the boat. However, I would use the trailer, rather than your wife to launch the boat.. Smile The ramps at Wahweep are relatively shallow, and you will have to back in quite a long ways. Launching is easier than retrieving.. Go someplace on a week day, and take your time launching and retrieving as practice. I prefer State Line--parking is easier than by the hotel. Get fuel before you launch--will be cheaper in town--one Shell (?) station has a boat fill up in the back--with hoses from both sides. That is easier. Also get your fishing license for Utah. (Most of Powell is in Utah).

You are going to be even slower at Powell, since you will loose about 10% of the HP with the altitude. I would not even try to plane the boat (although a light 22, with a single 50 can get up to about 15 MPH, or slightly more.)

I will send you a PM or E-mail, about some suggestions about Powell later today. Unfortunately I can no longer go there because of my heart disease and the altitude. (or so my wife says).

Again, congratulations, and enjoy the boat!
