Eckhart Tolle, A New Earth, pp. 11 - 12.
“If the history of humanity were a clinical case history of a single human being, the
diagnosis would have to be: chronic paranoid delusions, a pathological propensity
to commit murder and acts of extreme violence and cruelty against his perceived
‘enemies’ - his own unconsciousness projected outward. Criminally insane, with a
few brief lucid intervals.”

If this is what Man does to Man, it's not surprising how Man treats animals.

Getting the picture?

Aye.

My father became a commercial fisherman in his later years...and hated sharks he often grumbled about catching a large salmon and having the filet bitten out of it..... so when he would hook a shark he would get it close to the boat and shoot it (or worse)...that was years ago and I always thought it was common among commercial fisherman...

Of course I was an adult when I realized all farmers did not carry a case of Dynamite in the trunk of the car...Thanks Grandpa.. (what a riot)

I actually thought that was the way to get rid of gophers...

I remember as a child watching some movie where the South Pacific Islanders were killing sharks by boiling coconuts and then tossing them into the shark-infested water where the sharks would gobble them down, and then die from a cooked stomach. That seemed really cruel to me then and I wonder now if that was really a thing or just some Hollywood fiction?
Deliberate needless cruelty, toward any living creature, should be a crime. I hope these A-holes rich parents don't get them off, yet again.

IIRC, the Polynesians in that movie were actually heating/throwing ulu or Samoan breadfruit, to the sharks. I vaguely remember seeing that movie when I was a kid. I could be wrong, though.

In reality, Polynesians, especially Hawai'ians, hold much reverence for sharks and consider them "gods" or in some cases, 'aumakua or the spirit/soul of a dead ancestor. This especially holds true for older Hawai'ians but the belief is still passed down to modern times.

Info here if you are so inclined: https://www.moolelo.com/sharks.html

I always had a healthy respect for sharks. Growing up surfing/spearing etc you just accepted the risks of the ocean. I've had gray reef shark(s) "charge" me while spearing in Marshall Islands. It will definitely get your heart rate up and your "you know what" will pucker. I've seen 100 lb Ahi come up chomped clean in half while fishing. And have seen big tiger sharks cruising while diving. Impressive animals.

And yet you can buy Shark meat at the Fish Store...Is there some fool that raises them...

I always thought it was fine to catch them...just not my sort of fishing..I'll get mine at Safeway.
