Thank you all for coming to Cathlamet 2006! I had a blast in spite of the weather. Special thanks to Chuck & Art (Wineman). Chuck led the backwater tour down to Tongue Point, he even supplied maps with historical notes of interest. I've been wanting to to this route for a couple of years now and it was great to tag along with someone who knows the tricky spots.
Art, C-Brat wine? This is amazing! The C-Brats now have their own labeled wine. Stone Wolf 2005 C-Dory Pinot Gris and Stone Wolf 2004 C-Dory Chardonnay. We need to get a picture posted of these for the nonbelievers. I've got some bottles saved as a collectors item. The blue label has a picture of a C-Dory running on step and on the back label it says:

C-Brats
From Cellar Rats to C-Brats this wine has come.
So forget the whiskey, the grog, and the rum.
Pull up the anchors and go upon your trip,
For it shall begin best with the very first sip.
Throw out your net and plenty be the fish,
Good food, drink and memories be our wish.

We had a great time in spite of the weather also. Many thanks to Chuck, the Wine Guy and especially Larry & Helen for their hospitality. Was fun to meet and talk with a bunch of Brats.

‘Twas a good one! Lots of folks, lots of boats, lots of fun, lots of food, and lots of rain. My crew was too busy coming and going to other things so we didn’t join in the backwater cruise. Once we tied up Friday, we didn’t leave the dock until this morning to head home. It was good to see the folks I hadn’t met and all the friends I already knew. And a big thanks to Larry and Helen for opening their home to us all for the dinner Saturday evening. Much warmer and drier than our other choice.

Thanks also to Chuck, Wineman Art and his crew at the winery for the delightfully thoughtful C-Brat Special wine. It was a very neat treat. I know there were some pictures taken of the labels, so we’ll all be seeing it soon.

And thanks to John and Amy for the great breakfast this morning. In there also is an apology to anyone else who may have been destined to receive a taste had I not taken the whole bunch of sausages when John offered them. It didn’t occur to me until on the way home that perhaps he meant for me to take just one or two. I figured when he tried to pull his arm away after I grabbed it that he was just living up to the Crazy Frazey moniker. But the sausages were good!

There is an album in place at the front of the Cruises and Events section. I forgot the camera (again), but I posed for a bunch of pictures.

Wow, what a wonderful group of people who call themselves Brats! Thank you Larry and Helen for organizing everything AND for inviting us wet folk to your home to enjoy the potluck out of the rain and wind -- and Thank you Chuck and Art...the survival kit you gave everyone is priceless! It was great to see those we knew again and to meet others we'd not yet met. Everytime we go to a gathering, Steve and I look at each other afterward and our comment is always "What a nice group of people!"

Thanks! Hope to see everyone again for another gathering soon.

Our first event, and what a treat!! Many new faces - and names, and many memories to go along with all of them! Thanks to all of the attendees for making this such an incredible event. Well done Larry for the organization and hospitality. Chuck - great back-channel cruise!!!!

Memo to mother nature... come rain, come hail, come gail force wind - nothing can dampen the spirits of our c-dory family.

Oh, and to those that haven't seen the label...

SHOOT! I think I got shots of all the boats on the dock except Shearwater -- I'd say he fishes too much and was late coming in, but there's no such thing as fishing too much Laughing

I was really disappointed that I was not able to make it. I had planned to make the pot luck at least but circumstances conspired against me.
This is one of my most favorite events too, I am bummed.
I am looking forward to the pics and to next year.

Thanks to Larry for getting this gig going and a special thanks to Larry and Helen for inviting all of us to their place for the potluck. We had a great time (as we always do) and look forward to next year. It is always good to see old friends again and to make new ones as well.

I think Art continues to be the most popular boat-less C-Brat.

Mike, thanks for running up to the marina office for me. We made it to Goble with 5 gallons to spare.

Cathlamet was great as always! Thanks Larry and Helen for making it so.

C-Dory folks are the best... new and returning! I'd just met John & Amy when they invited me aboard and I stayed to make muffins on their Wallace. It's easy! I'll post a how-to soon, under baking, in the galley section.

The Stone Wolf wine was (and will be) a real treat. Those oysters were absolutely superb and so was the pickled salmon (recipe please)?!!!

There's always something to learn from how others outfit their boats. Though dangerous, as now Tom wants a GPS/radar unit like Kevin's! And Mike, did I tell you your new TV is really cool!

So the sturgeon were still upriver. We'll have better luck, Steve, come halibut season.

This may have been one of the coldest, but it's the warmth of the experience we're left with. Looking forward to seeing you all at future gatherings and out on the water!
