WOW, great to see a new 16. Thanks Mark. I hate to sound cliche, but....
That is really a cute boat.
Great to see you active, and active on this site. C-BRATS is a great family.

I need a set of those dollies for my garage. Spin the boat around, push it to the side. I might be able to get another boat in.

Mark, I made a four caster framework for my 20 ft IB to rest on, and that allowed easy rotation, for a 1500 lb load. Initially, I chose casters rated for about 500 lbs each, figuring 4 x 500 = 2000 lbs would be enough. False.
On rotation, unless the surface is very smooth, transitional loads rise and fall, and some of the casters failed. I went to ones rated at 900 lbs each, and they lasted. The ones in the photo look to be similar to the 900 lb ones I had.
Transferring the boat from the trailer to a framework or some dollies will demand some jacks and/or jackstands. I expect you already have those. _________________ Dave Kruger

I've got a set of those dollies and they are great.
To get the boat on and off of the trailer, I had to buy four longer pieces for the uprights. Sure makes it great for bottom painting. |

Mark, it is really great that the factory has now made a 16 Angler. This is a GREAT boat, perfectly balanced! It is interesting to see how little has changed! I really love our '91 Angler with the '91 Johnson 40 (Patty not so much, but she enjoyed some of our cruises on it too) but unfortunately it has sat unused for too many years due the power tilt no longer working! We are considering three options, in order - first, get the power tilt fixed or go to a manual tilt, second, sell the boat as is, and third, re-power. I would love to re-power, but the cost to benefit ratio is questionable for us! Here is a pic in the South Sound by Old Growth Dave!

For moving the boat around in tight places check out the trailer valet. I bought an arima that had one on the trailer and it actually works well. |
