Cool cover shot of an aluminum boat powering through Arran Rapids near Stuart Island north of Desolation Sound. Even cooler is an article beginning on page 60 entitled Rugged Boats of the Great Northwest. Maxing out the cool meter is a photo of I think a 24' Sea Sport, mention of Northwest Marine Industries and Osprey, Skagit Orca, Tomcat and C-Dory boats!
Not surprisingly, Rangers were prominently featured, rafted at a rendezvous at Roche and Desolation. (And an advertisement on page 9.)
Too, a plug for Sam Devlin, American Tugs, and regional aluminum favorites. Go, local boat builders--especially NMI! |
Yes great article Brock. Although there isn't a photo of a C-Dory, it did garner first mention in the line of other rugged PNW fiberglass boats. Pretty cool!

Hi Peter, Thanks for the nudge. I can't get top my mail today, so i looked up the article on line.
Here is the link, for those who aren't "connected":

BTW, BoatUS is a great magazine, and a good service. Like AAA for your boat, only better.

Half way thru that video there is a large catamaran in the factory. What model boat is that? _________________ "We can go over there...behind the 'little one'....."

Sea Sport makes a 32 foot catamaran, although the stripe on the one in the factory looks new.

The deal killer on the 32 is the 12' 10" beam. Means wide load, with pilot car--and may need pole car and alternate routes--so not "trailerable"...Unfortunately this is true of most Cats over 30 feet--the accepted LOA to Beam ratio is at least 1: 3 for a cat. _________________ Bob Austin

There is one of the SeaSport 32 Cats moored at Friday Harbor. It looks BIG. BUT, if you are interested in a nice 30ish Cat Look at Armstrong.

The SeaSport 32 Cats are definitely a cool boat and (excuse my French) have that awesome brick shithouse look! That's a salty, manly boat! Lol.
What I DON'T like about them are the I/O's. I'm not a fan of them at all and wouldn't buy a boat with I/O's. _________________ <><><> Jason <><><>

Their brochure shows one with a bracket and outboards.

With Armstrong, like Burger King, you can have it your way: Outboard, I/O or diesel. And They are the Brick SH x2.

Cool. With outboards there must be a huge storage space below deck in the usual engine room space. Someone could sleep down there ! Lol |

You are right. I have been on this boat and there is nearly as much space in the (supposed to be) engine room as there is in the forward birth room. AND, it goes like a scared cat.

Pages 16-17 of the Spring 2017 issue of The Ensign, the US Power Squadrons magazine, also carries a nice C-Dory photo. Taken in Maine, I think. |
