I've started work on the footage and images I took on the trip. I compiled some of my photography in a slide show here.

https://youtu.be/8P65RZrqpc0

I have uploaded some to my google drive and will be adding to it as I go along. Jim/Colby/Mike please upload any photos/video you want to share in the video using this link. Mike (Tyboo) I am really interested in the videos that you shot on the way into Astoria, I would really like to include them in the video.

Still re-living the trip, Jim picked the perfect weather window it has been storm after storm since we left.

Thank you Colby and Mike for your contributions, it is great to have all of the perspectives. It is going to take a while to produce a final video, I will try to do justice to what we experienced.

Floyd

Your slide show is very good. The pictures really show how vast and vacant the landscape was. You have a good camera lens.

yesterday I drove down the Columbia River from Pendleton to Portland. The PNW is currently under a pretty stable high pressure weather system (clear sky's and cold) and the river was flat, quiet and beautiful. I saw half a dozen tugs, 4 with tows and 2 empty. made me wish I was on the water. THEN I got down to west of Hood River. The waves were building and by Stevenson and Cascade Locks there were 3-5 footers with more than 75% whitecaps. I would guess the winds to be 40-50 mph. The news reported that the winds at Crown Point, just below (down river from Beacon Rock) were close to 70mph. Would have been a good time to take a weather day on the water.

I have finally been able to publish the video that I created for the trip and I have been reliving the adventure frame by frame during the process. It was one of the best experiences in my life. Thanks again to Jim and Kathy and to everyone on the adventure that made it so special.

It is a long video, so grab some popcorn!

Just plain fabulous. A trip on my bucket list this summer. Hopefully. Great video. Brats and all boating boards should take the time and effort to fully, video and pix their major journeys

It looks like your flock was on plane a lot of the time. Imagined that I'd do a slow cruise of 6 MPH or so plus the river flow. What did you do in terms of slow cruise and on-plane in general?

Most the trip was on plane. About 16mph for the slowest boat. Very Happy During the rough section, we were probably doing about 10-12 mph. In fact, I think the only time we were back at hull speeds were entering the no wake going into and out of marinas and the locks. And in the fog, where we were at hull speed and slower. (6 mph). I think the current was at about 3 mph if I remember. Colby

Great video! Thanks for taking the time to edit and produce! I know how long it takes to do the post production. I am sure you spent a lot of time on that.

That was spectacular. Floyd, thank you so much for all your work in putting that together. Very nice. And that little section below the Bonneville Dam where the water was brown and there were real waves, I have seen the whole river like that all the way from Walullu to Portland so sure glad you only had 2 weather days. It worked. And you all did great.

The points of view are great, and the timing and ET rates are perfect. Maybe due to the fires in the PNW and Cal, or..... but the colors are spectacular.

We watched the show while we were waiting for the crabs to crawl into the pots. It was wonderful! Thank you!

Took your advice and got some popcorn. Watched the whole thing and it is terrific, Floyd. Great work. It was so good that I watched it a second time and will see it many times in the future. Lew
