I noticed that Harvey Hochstetter, Hardee of SleepyC was featured in the BoatUS issue June/July 2017 on page 12. "singlehanding selfie" it mentions his 90 day singlehanding around the north end of Vancouver Island in 2016. _________________

And it looks like another prominent C-Brat is mentioned in the letter immediately above Harvey's. _________________ Bill, Formerly on NORO LIM

Harvey, congratulations for being featured in BoatUS magazine! Your photo is a creative award-winner, and taken at an angle that allows the reader to view your cabin and see how you provisioned for your long journey. And by the way, you sport the perfect look for the occasion, Captain. |

I think this every time it rains,,,, every time it looks like rain,,,,, every time I think it might rain,,,, every evening when I have to fuss with putting the canvass up,,,,, every morning when I have to take the canvass down,,,, every morning when I want to get under way early and have to put the canvass away still wet from the dew,,,,, etc.,,,,, etc..
No wonder Cbrats get more hours on their boats than me - I'm fusing with snaps and zippers half the day!!
Congrats Harvey! I don't have a subscription to that magazine so glad to see it posted here.

We have "C Tow" and "Boater Assist Canada".
My Volvo warranty covered the cost of any tow required due to mechanical breakdown for 5 years. Now that it is over I should look into some coverage. Haven't needed a tow yet(touch wood) but I did run out of gas once after a 53 mile trip turned into a 7 hour pounding on Lake Erie.

Good Morning Fellow C-BRATS
It has been a while since I was able to get any phone or wifi service. I have been traveling out of the US and am working off my tablet so functions are limited here.
What a surprise to find this thread in the list of posts to try and catch up on. I have not seen the article yet, (afraid I might loose the thread if I go jumping around to soon.) Thanks for the find, post and acknowledgement. I was curious about sending in a photo for something and sent a quick email to the editor to which I received a quick reply and some questions. I answered and forgot all about it. Can't remember which photo(s) I sent. I was thinking of putting a short trip story together.
Yes, R A I N , and yes, I My C-Dory. I was dry, warm enough, and always safe. Out of that first 48 days I only had 6 nights on a dock, (if I remember correctly), and 3 or 4 were weather days, (30+ knots wind), and I spent that time in Alert Bay. Bit of a long stop for what was going to be just a quick breakfast at Duchesses Bannock (a must if you are ever in the area).
Funny, I just read a magazine article in May "Boating" about Vancouver Island noted as being about cabin boats and rough water cruising. Turns out it is mostly a promo for GradyWhite 30 ish boats and their "advantages", running twin 350s. OK, so they have power, I'm still mighty fine with twin 40's, thanks.
Thanks for the kudos, though i'm not the first to go there and won't be the last, I'm sure. It is a great boating area and we have the right boats. Go, and enjoy. Many of you have done so much more on your boats and I am envious, often when reading of your adventures.
This is just a great site, full of so many great folks who have become such good friends. Thanks again for the notice, and for being part of this great family.
Harvey
