I found what appears to be a good deal on a 22. Being an 86 what is something should look out for or things would be alarming. The boat is listed at 14K with low hours 98 Honda 90. Thanks for the input and help from hopefully a soon to be c dory owner.

The boat is the deal, the motor may or may-not be of much value. Classic hull design, more "Vee" to the hull in '87. I had a '84 Classic for 13 years, bullet proof boat by the original builders. Look for water intrusion around screws and check the transom integrity. The classic design will pound a little more in a chop, because it's flat further toward the front. It's just a matter of slowing down more in a chop.

I would bet the transom has some rot if the cap is original. Awesome boats though! I have an old 81 and put about 300 hrs a year on it. Fishes and camps well. Fix the transom and go boating!

A well cared for a low hour 1998 Honda 90 hp should be a good motor. You may have to have the carbs rebuilt. Each time, I use the boat, (try to avoid ethanol laced gas), I drain the carbs, unless I will be using the boat again within a month. If within a month, I run the engine every 2 weeks. This prevents the carbs from being gummed up. The only other negative is that those engines only have a 17 amp alternator (2007 on had 40 amp alternators). I have a 2006, 90 Honda, which would be virtually the same as a 1998--and it works fine--top speed in a light boat is close to 30 mph--should be the same for a 1986.
