with separate systems for house and starting batteries should the negative post on the starting and house batteries be connected? |

Yes, the negative terminals of both batteries should be connected to the ground system of the boat and the engine ground.
Do you plan on charging the house battery from the outboard? You can use either a 1 2 all off switch, or a Voltage sensitive relay to combine the two batteries when the engine is running and chaging the batteries. _________________ Bob Austin
