I know quite a few of you live in the greater seattle area and I need some information. I am trailering our 16' cruiser (Sue-C) up there in two weeks and want to launch somewhere in Lake Washington or near Lake Union, and leave the truck and trailer parked for a couple days. Can anyone suggest a secure place? The ramp in downtown kirkland came to mind but I don't know if you can park overnight.

None of the public ramps on Lk Wa I know of allow overnight parking. I would bet one of the marinas on Lk Union that have slings would allow overnight parking. Mercer Marine in Bellevue just south of I90 might allow you to park in thier lot over night if you made special arrangements. I like the public ramp right next to their facility as not too many people use it. It is also in an affluent area and that seems to help keep the riff raff out.

Lloyds, If you were to launch at Coulon Park in Renton, at the south end of Lake Washington, I think I might have a place for your truck and trailer. It would be at my place, outside, in a residential neighborhood three miles from the ramp.

Thank you both for your suggestions. Either would work if I could pin down when I am getting up there. Between traffic, and the missus getting ready, timing is sometimes difficult.

I have received e-mails suggesting both the 14th. street ramp on the ship canal, and the ramps at magnuson park, on sandpoint. Anyone have knowledge about how secure those locations are for overnight parking?

Magnuson Park on the west side of Lake Washington has a good ramp and allows overnight parking. I can't speak to the security of O/N parking but it is in a pretty nice neighborhood and I didn't have any troubles at all with parking there for the day. This link should get you there. The ramp marked "6" on this map is the one I am talking about. If you click on it, a pop-up will describe it.

Thanks, Roger. That one sounds pretty good to me. That should be a pretty nice weekend trip. Both lakes, and a trip through the locks down to Rays Boathouse. Maybe cruise by Bills' house.

Several years ago, I parked overnight at the Magnuson Park ramp and my truck and trailer were fine when I returned. (Of course that was when I was towing with my 1 ton 4x4 dually GMC truck. Now that I have the big Dodge Cummins Diesel, someone would surely want to swipe it from me! Cry )

On a serious note if I'm not mistaken several C-Dory owners have parked there overnight and not had problems, I believe it is routinely patrolled.

(Catman's solution would probably be the "cat's meoow"). Smile

One ramp that has not been mentioned so far (probably because it is not on Lake Washington) is the City of Seattle Eddie Vine ramp. This is a fine multi-lane ramp between Shilshole Marina and Golden Gardens, and we have used it for overnight parking. It would be a short and easy lock through to access Lakes Union and Washington...

I agree Pat! The Shilshole launch is a great launch. Especially right now as 2 minutes from the launch is some decent Silver fishing Smile

Thanks, everyone, for your help. It is great to get help like this when you are a distance away. I haven't decided yet between Eddie Vine and Magnuson Park. Thanks a lot.
