|
|
I've ordered a new 25 Cruiser and should take delivery in the next few weeks. They put the fridge on the port side now, under the front seat, and drawers under the helm seat. My old 25 had the fridge under the helm seat and a HUGE storage area under the front seat on the port side.
I just learned that there is no storage behind the fridge on the port side now. That seems to me like a big waste of space.
Also from a sleeping standpoint it might be better to not to sleep on top of a vibrating fridge.
Am I wrong here? Wonder why they moved it? |

Mine is on the port side and has an access hatch on top behind the fridge. I store lots of stuff behind the fridge. When I needed to run new cables on the starboard side it was easy to remove the shelves for access. I did not notice vibrations when I slept on the dinette. But there is always the noise from the refrigerator no matter where you sleep. Have fun with your new 25! _________________ Tom and Joyce Schulke

This all started when I was wondering where I would store a window a/c unit, when not in use, on my new boat as I stored it under the passenger seat on my old 25.
Was thinking about a roof top unit but got scared about cutting a big hole in my boat! lol |

Ken,
Gene (Mobile East) put a rooftop a/c on mine, along with a platform on the stern for the Honda 2000 to run it. Nice having a/c when you're on the hook

Ken
Our air conditioner stores in the V-berth below the removable cushion where the portable toilet was stored on my 22. Great place to store it. I also built a stand for my honda 2000 in the splash well. On my 2011 25 there are also factory hatches in the v-berth area. Lots of great storage for my camper back, tools and spares.
I had a AC on the roof of my 22 and it worked great but as long as I can lift the portable one that's what I'll use. Nice to have a space for my dinghy on top of the boat.
If you have a chance come up to Hontoon Island for our Florida CBGT in March. We will show you how to invest more boat dollars on your new 25! |

I've had a ton of different boats trying to figure out the perfect boat for my needs. I've always bought used (like new but used) as I never kept them for very long (1-3 years). Now that I've found the perfect boat for me (C-Dory 25) I decided to build one exactly the way I want it and the plan is it will be my "retirement boat" that I will keep for a very long time (God willing).
The new ones are supposedly very well made and by the time you add a re-power to an older one it's not all that much more expensive to get exactly what you want.
Or, I'm a complete idiot! |

The 2000 should be able to run a little window unit too, right? |

The Honda 2000 easily runs the 5000 btu ac unit that fits in the center window of my 25. It will also run the hot water heater if everything else 120 volt is turned off. |

A Honda 1000 will run a 5000 btu air conditioner. And if you change the heater element to a 220 V unit, it'll run the water heater too.
