Pat maybe keep your boat in Florida come back for the St.John's gathering and then trailer it back in end of March much better to trailer then November ? That way you could fly back play in the snow and come back in a few months .I don't think there is much boating in the PNW in Dec.-Mar. Jim (jennykatz)

Ah, Jim, Pat has adapted to the Arizona snowbird lifestyle in the Casa Grande area - I'm guessing that's where they will be Jan through March.

And you would be completely correct in that guess! We may yet return to do more cruising in Florida, especially the Keys, which we are sorry to have missed, but it will have to be in a charted boat, the long tow a second time is really out of the question!

C' on Pat!

After 3 round trips towing across the country we learned some stuff about ourselves. You might even fit!

Our first couple of crossing we had nearly 3,000 miles to go both departing and returning home. We gritted out teeth and did long days and "boater homed" (stayed on boat) in rest areas, in Walmarts & campgrounds. We arrived very beat, very tired and it took a week to get back to normal. We've since learned to take shorter days and after two or three travel days take a day off. Find a city with a museum or something you like. Last trip we stopped in Fort Worth and took in a western art museum (Charlie Russell, Fred Remington etc. (3 in town). Although it takes a few days longer you arrived refreshed. What difference does a week make if you have been gone 10 months? We also found that a motel room every now and then was quite worthwhile.

Second, consider storing boat and trailer in Orlando at one of the RV storage places until March. (Orlando is a good hub for flying west) Fly home and enjoy Christmas, go to Arizona & etc. Fly back in March and enjoy boating Florida. Start working your way home in mid April. Then you can have a warm season return to the Pacific Northwest instead short, cold dark days with cold November winds and that nasty white stuff on the road.

Chuck

Looking forward to seeing you all in a few days. Don't overdo it in getting the boat ready for the road!

Congratulations you two and have a safe trip back home keeping an eye on the weather. We just did a 1500mile extended weekender in SE Oregon and NV which are right on the edge of Winter.
