We have dinner arranged for Friday night but plan A did not work out.

With Downriggers re-opened, we reached out to our contact there and the good news is they remembered our group and had nothing but good things to say. The bad news was their new group rate and limited menu ran from 55-87$ per seat from a limited menu depending on seating location.

That price was a little steep for the feedback we have received from the group, so we are headed back to Rumor Mill same as last year where we can order from the full menu and enjoy the company.

We are looking forward to it!

Did I read that correctly? $55-87 per seat?

Rumor Mill sounds good Greg, food was good last year! Not too surprised about those rates at Downriggers...when they re-opened late last year I walked in to check it out hoping to grab a bite. But it looked a bit too fancy for my taste (without even checking the menu), so instead I went uptown for some fish and chips. I'm sure it is great, just a bit too fancy for what I had in mind that day, my big party-of-one.

Mary and I will finally be able to attend this gathering and we are excited about it. I suspect we will launch the boat in Bellingham since the ramp is good and storage of the vehicle and trailer was so easy last year for the few weeks we were in that area. As for Friday night, we will just be glad to be there and see old and new friends so we gladly defer to those of you with far more area knowledge than we have.

Greg, is there anything we personally need to do in advance with the marina? I've added us to the C-Brats sign up list but that's all at this point.

I'm guessing you didn't make it past the first page of the menu; although I didn't see anything in the price range as quoted. As I recall, they used to have 3 or 4 items that our group could select from, not the full menu. Since they have been closed for three years, policies may have changed.

If they're doubling the prices for a group, that should be an indication of how they feel about blocking off a weekend night for a group.

Jim is on the right track of course and those prices were correct Patrick. They had a 3 item option list for such a group as ours and the rates were not too different than we have been quoted from other restaurants in town for the past two years. The rumor mill is unique in that they don't have a group policy/rate (positive attitude!) and simply want a reservation plus a few other details. Their accommodating attitude wins the business in this case.

Rob, There is no need to do anything else expect the signup list. Check back on this thread again in May for full details but we will have room for you. We look forward to seeing you guys again and hope to make FH a good event for you and the group.

I am interested in buying a CDory. I would like to attend the Friday Harbor gathering so I could meet some C Dory people and also compare the various boats. I am excited about the opportunity to meet you and talk about the boats.

Hi Steve, and Welcome. Friday Harbor is a great place to come and see the C-Dory family. There are lots of boats, (usually about 40 - 50) and tons of really neat people there. Good times and lots to learn. Be sure and look up Friday Harbor so you know it will take a boat, plane or ferry to get there, and probably good idea to book a place to stay early if you are going to need that.

There is usually a full compliment of boats from the 16 up to the TomCat. You will have a fun time deciding.

Until today I thought I'd have to miss this year's Gathering (it would have been my 4th). We have friends from Australia visiting that weekend. We haven't seen them in 30 years, so the Gathering was out for me. I just got email today that their trip has been delayed. Now,they won't arrive until Sunday May 21. So I'm thinking of coming to Friday Harbor on Friday and leaving Saturday late or Sunday very early.

Is there room at the dock? Can I leave it up in the air in case something changes, or do I need to make a definite reservation?

We would prefer you add youself to the signup list if you are planning to stay any nights at the dock. As we get closer to final numbers with the port, it will help insure enough space for all. Glad you can make it Tosca, and try to stay through the potluck at least!

Thanks Aurelia.

I've added myself. I'll most probably stay Friday and Saturday night -- leaving at o'dark thirty Sunday morning. Normally, I'm very lazy on the boat in the mornings, and rarely pull anchor until noon at the earliest. So this schedule will be an experience. More likely to get flat water home, I suppose Laughing

Steve, You are right about the flat water. And, from someone who worked nights for 30 years, the sunrise IS the best part of the day Shocked Laughing

Yesterday in Sheridan WY it was 60 F this am woke to 12+ inches of fresh Spring
snow. 20 F tonight and 50 F tomorrow I am trying to ready Baxter II with some
wiring additions but to cold. Took plow off Sunday so can't get out anyway.

What might we expect in Bellingham and Friday Harbor. Plan to arrive in
Venture 23 Baxter II on Friday.
We have high homes. 59 would be fine. Thank you Craig
