Flushed out the water tank and flooded it with the Pink RV antifreeze. Set up the dehumidifiers and the BatterMinder's for storage for a while to bring every thing to dry and charged. Have some cleaning to finish and get it pretty again.

found out that my transom and hull in front of it are water logged. $7300 estimate. No choice but to do it.

Not so much what I did on or with my C-Dory, but rather a tool I fabricated for testing the trailer lights/brakes, without having to hook up my tow vehicle. A few more photos with descriptions in my photo album:
http://www.c-brats.com/modules.php?set_albumName=album2894&op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&include=view_album.php
but here are a few photos to show how it came out. Colby

Yesterday went with two friends (both experienced boaters) and we went through Rich Passage, then around Vashon Island. We hit an unexpected fog bank, and it actually was kind of useful. I had never traveled in fog, and there was hardly any traffic. So got practice using radar and charts, AIS, and smart phones (show what the ferries are doing). Only puzzle was a small anchored fishing skiff did not register on the radar, and we were as close as 100 feet. Otherwise an unusually warm sunny day.

Not too surprising. Many small boats do not have material or flat surfaces to give good radar returns. The new digital radars seem better for these targets.

We found that in heavy fog and dark conditions, we kept radar on short range- and turned gain up. Often "auto" does not give the best picture. If I saw several blips, even if not consistent, there usually was a small boat there--went very slow, with lookout on the bow (Larger boats).

I have not been using radar in daytime, and really need to follow the practice of doing so when it is bright and clear. And learn to connect with what I am seeing out the window and what is on the screen - and using the various adjustments!

We should all take heed RobLL! It is good to know and be familiar with the usage of the safety equipment on our boats before one desperately needs it if (when) things go bad.

Great advice. Best time to learn how to use your radar is to use it in clear daytime! Play with those buttons, that's what they are there for. Even as an airline pilot, I was dismayed at how many of my fellow pilots just turned the system on only in IMC (the clouds), and then just left it in the auto settings. Sort of like looking straight ahead with your eyeballs, only focused on a set distance!

Even though I have been using radar for over 35 years, when I got the new digital radar, I ran it almost constantly on the recent 750 mile trip on the Cumberland and Tennessee Rivers. I learned how to tune it for various ranges and targets.

We've been fogged in the past few days so yesterday I cleaned the boat and uploaded an older software version to our Raymarine C120. The latest version stopped the RADAR overlay function, which is something I use to see if there is a boat on one of my intended dive sites. The older version uploaded correctly and the RADAR overlay is back. We aren't leaving the slip, but I'm happy.

Replaced the center tail light on Midnight Flyer's trailer, and also replaced small backup lights with some larger ones. Rewired the entire trailer. Hopefully the mice will leave the loomed wire alone now. Replaced the Chinese AIS unit with a smaller US one. And installed some new fans inside the cabin. All stored away now for next season!

Sunny and 80 degrees here today (pleasant Fall weather, just like Colby will insist they are having in Madison).
Did some wet sanding of oxidized areas and removed the Cat O’ Mine decals that have wrinkled and shrunk after only 9 years.
The Blue Angels were practicing overhead (at the top of their game) for the end of season finale Homecoming air shows Nov 2 and 3 on station. From our daily 2.3 hour walk on the Trout Point Nature Preserve boardwalk we could look up and see 4 pilots in their seats (just before we covered our ears). We got a 1 second smoke salute from #4 on lap #6.
In 21 days we’ll be trailering down for 6 weeks in Key West…so much to do before then. For DoD, Boca Chico NAS Marina is only $1/ft transient fee, though we like

https://www.stockislandmarina.com/

for $36/nite + $10 power (take a 50amp spot and bring your own adapter) + $10/day to store the huge trailer at City marina. Access to Perry Hotel pool and amenities and hourly free shuttle to downtown including West Marine, Home Depot, Publix, Turtle Kraal etc if you want to party. Otherwise parking anywhere is $20 a day, but it’s only 2 miles by 2 miles wide.
Our first year of retirement has really flown by fast, with cruises in the Keys, Lower St. John river, Chesapeake Bay and South Herrington Tugnuts Gathering, side trips to Eluethera, outer Bahamas and the Trent-Severn (and TugNuts Gathering at Orillia), Georgian Bay of Ontario, SW Florida Tugnuts Gathering, upper Mississippi C-Brats Gathering and the C-Brats cruise down the Cumberland and up the Tennessee rivers with great friends. What a hoot!
May all Brats be so blessed and have so much fun!
John

I so wish! Laughing But still nice at 62! It won't be that way for much longer. El Nino sounds good though! Colby
