Neato! I'm watching it now. It's something like an Alaskan version of going up a narrow canyon at Powell Very Happy

I'm craving northern waterways now!

Sunbeam, yes very similar to Powell except there it takes a good part of a season to change to what this does in 6 hrs. http://youtu.be/bvmmv4lz-UA. & best to try in the few minutes the water is not going one way or the other like I did in 2004 at Fords Terror Inlet.

Jason, yes we trailered from Wy to Skagway, Alaska & you can if interested read all all about the planning stages through where we are on the trip so far right here in the Grand Adventure Forum, just below these video threads.

Steve, yes a very beautiful & challenging spot to see.

Jay

True, the timing can be a bit more casual on Powell: "How about mid-September" is close enough! Very Happy

I remember the first time I cruised in BC - it was actually the first time I had cruised in tidal waters of any sort (I'm from the Great Lakes). Here we were, out in the middle of wilderness-type waters, and yet it was almost like catching a bus in the city in that "Well, we need to be at X rapid at 7:27 a.m., sharp." "Okay, I'm setting an alarm for 5:30."

(Of course it was much, much NICER than having to catch a bus or show up at a meeting, but just struck me funny how the "appointments" were so specific to catch the slack time when we were out in the middle of nowhere with no schedule to speak of.)

Nice video, and I bet it can be really wild when the current is running. Gorgeous scenery.
