MISSISSIPPI RIVER GATHERING
Sept 8 to 11, 2016 Two Rivers Marina @ mile 283.2
Cruising after the GATHERING change:
After researching the Missouri River, Brenda and I believe the Illinois River offers a more inviting cruising option, possible to Chicago about 333 miles, after the gathering. Of course the Old Arkansas Cotton Choppers would welcome another boat or two to point the way.
Last year Sept 10 to 13, 2015 Brenda and I cruised north from Alton, The Upper Mississippi River to St. Paul, MN, a seventeen (17) day, 735.1 mile adventure.
We have a hard copy of our log book and a detailed daily explanation of each day's activities containing twenty (22) pages. We will bring a copy to the gathering.

Last summer after buying our 25 C Dory I found on Amazon site a Whynter ( fridge)FM-62DZ dual lid that had 5% damage for $488 (free shipping)as opposed to$640 for new and purchased it. My intentions were to put it on slides under the port helm seat but after it arrived I realized it would hit the other side before it was far enough out to open both top load doors! Oops..... Since we had a upright fridge from our last boat first mate said she would rather use it with a front load door and not the Whynter. I plan on coming up from 224umr to two rivers Friday and if anyone is interested will bring it and sell it $250 . Just completed running length of the Tennessee and a little of the TennTombigbee and look forward to the gathering . Jim Lefers 3145781674 |

Bill and Brenda, Doc. Bob, Jan and I would be interested in cruising for a couple of days after the Gathering. We are limited on time but it would fun to do whatever we can to see more of the rivers. Looking forward to seeing you all in a few weeks. Lee and Jan on the Tully-B |

We had a great trip at Isle Royale and are currently near La Crosse, WI, boater homing at a KOA. Is there anyone that is going to cruise on the Mississippi before the gathering? We have 2 weeks free to cruise before the gathering. We are thinking about putting in at Winona and heading up to Redwing and then back to Winona. _________________ Our Anchor holds,

Hello Crystal Sea,
You will find Winona a wonderful place to launch for your river trip. We spent a few days on our boat in Winona early this summer and had a great time. The marina owner/manager is very accommodating and helpful. There are two museums close to the marina (Watkins Product and Polish Museum) , both fun and interesting. The Jefferson Street Pub has great food and a very good IPA on tap.
Safe travels and we'll see you at Twin Rivers.

Hi Mark and Carol-
The Mississippi from Winona to Red Wing is nice cruise. Just stay in the channel and watch out for the wing dams. If you anchor out, you'll sleep better if you anchor on backside of a sand island. (No boat wakes and you won't worry about the barge traffic in the middle of the night) The National Eagle Center in Wabasha is an interesting stop. Watch the weather on Lake Pepin because wind against current can make chaotic seas with 3-5 ft standing waves. If you have time, we suggest going further upstream from Red Wing to Hastings and also consider taking a side trip up the St. Croix River. Let us know if you want more information about the area. Looking forward to seeing you at the Two Rivers Marina.

It's on our calendar and we are looking forward to meeting everyone.
Nancy has been scouring the internet for possible boats.
We've gotten a lot of good advice from members here.
I've enjoyed a couple of conversations with Marc and it turns out he is a Beemer rider also.
We've had an offer of lodging if we go to FL
I'm enjoying the process of learning about C-Dory's and sure the time we spend with you all on the Mississippi will be most helpful.
Thanks to the organizers who have spent the time to make this happen and to all who are helping make this a successful event. |

This will be our second Mississippi CBGT and greatly looking forward to it. Always fun to meet up with old friends and make new ones. We are boater homing in central Wisconsin till next Wednesday then down to Rockport . I just hope this one doesn't cost as much as the last one. I'm not talking marina fees ....I'm talking boat modifications!!!!! Tom _________________ Tom and Joyce Schulke

Hello All,
This has been a busy year with many changes, mostly busy with kids and grand kids. A big move from Conn. to Denver CO. has us helping them get settled and sitting with kids until they get settled. So with that being the focus we will have to forgo the trip to the new gathering this year. Wishing all a great time in the new location. Maybe run into some in the early summer next year. Take care all and we will miss seeing the group

Jim & Julie,
Sorry to hear the crew of Dutch Treat cannot make the gathering. We understand your situation. We will miss you guys. It should be known that the crew of the Pelican will sacrifice and consume your share of home made ice cream and pie at the gathering. Someone has to do it.
Best of luck with your project and hope to see you guys next year.

Today is the day that I am going to wash the Tully-B and also I am going to build the pie racks for the cooler so that we can transport the pies safely to the Mississippi. Looks like Jan plans on making apple and pumpkin both of which go well with homemade ice cream. We will be leaving early Wednesday morning and expect to arrive at the marina mid to late afternoon. So looking forward to seeing you all.
Hey Guys from New York, will you be needing a boat to ride on or do you still have yours? |
