Are you planning on a gathering at Lake Powell this Sept?
We so enjoyed last year's.
We are planning on going just after Labor Day and were hoping that there would be some other C-Dory's on the Lake at that time.
Let us know if anyone is making any plans for Lake Powell.
Regards,
John and Grayle Blecker |

I don't know anything about a gathering, it's a bit early, but I am looking at Lake Powell around that time, if the plan all comes together.

We also plan to make a Lake Powell trip in September, but our timing is still fluid. If all goes well, we hope to make the August C-Brats gathering in Bellingham and then from there begin a southeastward tow, hitting Yellowstone Lake and Flaming Gorge Reservoir (and maybe another lake) before arriving at Lake Powell. We plan to attend the Powell gathering, but may still arrive early. We always enjoy boating with other Brats so would welcome the opportunity to meet up if we're there at the same time.

It seems to be unknown if there is going to be an actual "Gathering" without Chris. But we are gong to be on the Lake for much of Sept. (current plan).
I know that a number of C Brats have considered going there during this time. We probably will spend some time up the San Juan Arm. Trial this year without ice chests, using two Dometic refrigerator/freezers, to free us from the tyranny of bad ice from Dangling Rope!
If anyone wants to contact us, and get together, please text me at 850-619-4408. This is our Verizon phone, we keep for a back up, where we cannot get A T & T (Lake Powell for example).
We leave shortly for the West, C Dory in tow. _________________ Bob Austin

I was thinking the same thing about the gathering. I definitely have it on my calendar, and I guess my vote would be that we just keep the same "potluck at Oak Bay" date and time and then people can gather there? I know we're all going to miss Chris a lot, but he's done such a good job at showing the ropes to those that were new to Powell that maybe we can just let it happen this year and it will still work out well?
I think that's what I'll do anyway, barring anything else organized.
I'm also hoping to get there earlier, but will wait until I know for sure before committing to that part. |

Just to post what the schedule was for the "Grand Slam":
Yellowstone Lake Gathering, Saturday August 29th
Jackson Lake Gathering, Saturday September 5th
Flaming Gorge Lake Gathering, Saturday September 12th
Lake Powell Gathering, Saturday September 19th
I assume that some boats are still going to do the grand slam, or some other part than Lake Powell. |

I have been looking at this and am planning on going to Lake Powell, albeit maybe earlier. I have been considering Flaming Gorge too, but the others, not so much. I have a late Sept schedule forcing me to be back in the PNW late Sept and then Oct is booked so my time on Powell will begin earlier. Still in planning stage at this point.

We are tentatively planning on being on Lake Powell on 9/10/15 departing from Antelope Marina. We will plan on seeing everyone at Oak Bay on 9/19th if not earlier. We hope to spend approx 2 weeks on the water. We will be traveling around lake until shortly before the 19th. If anyone is going to be there earlier, please let us know.

We had such a grand time meeting everyone last year and look forward to doing the same this year (including the potluck).
We have been to Lake Powell many times over the years with many different boats and always look forward to our time on Lake Powell.

Mary and I also plan to make the gathering at Lake Powell. We'll most likely launch at Wahweap on Thursday afternoon, September 17, and stay overnight in the marina. Then sometime Friday morning we'll cruise up to Oak Canyon. It certainly sounds like several other Brats plan to make this outing so it will be fun to see everyone. We hope to combine some lazy days of just doing nothing (other than sitting, reading, kayaking, and simply taking in the beautiful scenery) with a few days of cruising with other boats to suggested spots. This will only be our 2nd time on the lake and we are certainly looking forward to it.

I'm also planning to be at the gathering, presuming things go as I'd like them to. Chris and Rana Verde will be sorely missed , but he's been such a good leader over the years that I think his knowledge has rubbed off on many of the rest of us, and as such can be passed on to any newbies who're interested (not to mention that many of the Brats there have tons of experience on Powell in their own right).
One other note for anyone who's making a first trip and would like to read up on it is that there is much knowledge to be gleaned by reading the "Powell Gathering" threads from all the previous years. There are always a number of questions asked and answered, good tips given, etc. I got a lot of good info - from a number of different perspectives - by doing this. |

I hadn't heard about that at all. I won't be on the lake in the next couple of weeks, but still appreciate the link to this information (even though it's not good news). |

After four days of cleaning the boat we have recovered from two months in South East Alaska. It was a memorable trip and we can't wait to get to Lake Powell in September for the Lake Powell C-Brat gathering. Hope to see a lot of old friends there. I assume the Colorado mine contamination will be diluted by then. _________________
