It certainly would work--I had used a larger version of this type of seat a number of years ago, as a helm seat in an inboard boat.
I would ask how comfortable this would be, vs a folding chair--and depending on what type of fishing? _________________ Bob Austin

I've seen the same or a very similar seat in the photo albums, no idea which one.

I looked alot for a boat seat that folded down or up. Does not exist for the N American market. The Garelick bulkhead seat has to be removed when not in use |

Dr Bob,
It would be for trolling salmon or jigging bottom fish. The cooler would be relocated to a motorwell rack. Not big on a chair that needs to be folded and stored. Fish on, quick flip of seat to get out of way in small 22 cockpit. |

I have looked, on occasion, for something like this, that could go onto that aft cabin bulkhead, that could work as a intermediate step level, between the cockpit step and the gunnel level to aid in access from/to the dock.
This would be close to what would work for that.
I didn't look to see if it is available in the US but is probably somewhere. Just wasn't a priority currently.

Call me cheap, but they seem pretty expensive. I do like the idea. Most of the time people just sit on the cooler seat. It works pretty good too - except when I want a beverage.....unless they are nice enough to deliver! |

I just added to my cart using my us prime account, $156.25 US + 22.44 shipping to Alaska. Not sure if I'm going to buy but thinking about it. _________________ Jay

Jay, that's awesome. I love Amazon Prime too - worth every penny! I really like the seat too - only a couple of months till shrimping opens |

For fishing, folds up out of way. Anyone done this?
thoughts?
gotta take some measurements. |
Garelick makes a seat like this
Then it removes completely leaving the two flat attachment brackets on the bulkhead.
Worked for me...

My boat came with one of the Garelick seats. Don't use it much. A couple of folding patio chairs work better for us. |

Anything would be preferable to sitting on the gunnels, which is usually where my Derrière ends up when I get tired of standing.
I also like the fact that it folds up and you don't need to remove anything , it's all right there when you need it. I don't have much room in the boat for storing anything extra especially lawn chairs or any other kind of portable chair .
With cheap gas prices looming on the horizon think I'll take the bait and drop some coin, now just need to figure out height. |
