Hello Everybody ,

My name is Peter , i'm 33 and i'm currently based in Ohio Columbus. I'm from France ( sorry for my grammar) and i moved in the US with my wife about 5 years ago . I grew up on the ocean , and my parents spent their life boating in the world for the past 17 years and counting. I'm a motorcycle enthousiast with a severe weakness for sidecar and always find an excuse to drive my Ural with our dog.

After some fun time in the north , we are missing the ocean too much and are now decided to move in South Florida next year.

I spent countless hours reading this forum which helped me decide the type of boat suitable for our goals/needs. We lend on a pilothouse , mostly for the level of habitability , fuel economy and overral cruising style. We will mostly look for seasports/skagit and dory but my hope is to be able to find a cdory 25 that i can afford. This is our favorite boat from so far and i can't wait to confirm it with a sea trial.

I wanted to take the time to introduce myself ( i will most likey as a few questions later ) and wanted to thanks everybody for the gathering of informations.

Peter

I too am a new member. This group really helped me make decisions while I was looking for my boat.

One bit of advice: When you find the right boat, do NOT tarry. They go quickly!

Good luck with your search.

You should add a photo album when you get a chance...

I want to S of H, but I need to ask an admin to allow it or something like that. I don't have any very good photos yet, but I'd put SOMETHING up if I had the approvals and know-how! I hope to get some good ones as time goes on. I certainly do enjoy observing all the great photos on the forum. It's a wonder I get anything else done! Smile

Yeah, I had that issue at first too. Here's the link with some good info. At first it seemed like a chore then I realized how easy it was to email pictures from my iPhone to my computer, save them and then upload them to my album.

What I really want to do is upload videos. I don't think it's possible to do that....unless I get them to YouTube first.

Anyway....I agree with you about "getting anything done". I'm on this forum A LOT every day! lol

Rain -

I will get an album set up for you after I get back from crabbing today and send the generic instructions to you in a PM. Unless I forget. It is likely I will forget. I forget a lot. If it doesn't show up, send me a PM.

vertice357/Peter, Bienvenue à bord!/ Welcome aboard. Your English is far better than my French ever was! Marie and I had some wonderful time in France, and love the French Sailors. The French are far more passionate about their sailing than the Americans! (See two Tri's around the World!)

The C Dory 25 is a great boat. Of course the question is what is going to be a good bargain for you. Keep in mind that a used C Dory does not loose much value, and in some cases may increase in value, if work is done on the boat. Bargains on the 25 do appear. I bought mine for $30,000--it did have a hole in the floor, and some transom issues. Repairs were straight forward and I sold it for more than I had in the boat. As Rain noted, if a good boat at a good price appears, grab it, no matter where it is.

Peter,

Welcome to the CBRATS site. Great place, great people and everything you could ever want to know about C-Dorys. Hey, we were all new once, and it is great to see so much participation from new folks. I don't feel too new but I sure still have plenty I can learn, so I stick around.

Enjoy, and good luck. The advice to know what you want, and be $$$ ready is good advice. These boats come up and sell quick, and yes, you may need to travel to the right one.
