Nice looking boat! Great price! You're right: Won't last long.

But something is a little off on that ad:

" This is a 1992 C-Dory 19FT Angler with original 1992 Johnson Outboard 2 Stroke 70 HP with 900+ hours........"

My recollection is that our own C-Brats Co-owner, Bill Guise, bought the first CD-19 made from the then new molds somewhere around the year 2004. He kept it for about a year or so, then purchased a CD-22 Cruiser, since sold. (Became Dr. Wagmore, Da Tug Man.)

So how can this be a 1992 model?

CD-18? CD-20? CD-21 OffShore? A One-Off?

Need the VIN number to answer the question definitively.

Observations:

Old style steering wheel found on ~1990 or older boats.
No rear cabin bulkhead.
Very wide rear gunnels.
Old type dual gas tanks.
Older wood style (probably Decagard) door structure on v-berth.
Front windows have the round curved appearance of the Classic 22 when viewed from the inside, as opposed to the 3 angled panels of the newer boats.
Non-opening center window.
Look at the engine well. Dual fuel intakes in the angled front sides. Plastic (up-dated?) lazarette doors. I haven't seen this configuration recently.
Lots of questions.
Need a CD-19 owner and/or someone who has owned a boat similar to this one to pin down some answers.

(Don't get me wrong, no knocking this boat/deal, just can't place it in the C-Ddory history book properly. Could just be my 73 YO mind/memory, though!)Laughing

I love the tremendous amount of information contained within the members of the C-Brats community. Hope I live long enough to contribute some useful tid-bit to someone one day!

Back to researching tools that should be carried aboard.

OK, I looked at the You Tube video of the boat.

Shows VIN number:

DOR19001A292

= C-Dory, Model 19, #001 (first out of the mold), January 2, 1992 (hull laid) (!)

I didn't know they made any 19's back then!

Live and learn!

(The many various owners of the C-Dory line over the years have had a history of producing a number of
experimental, custom, and one-off boats over the years,
so it's not surprising to find one like this.

I wonder how many others were made prior to the 2004 return to the more recent model 19?

Anyone else have a sister-ship to this 19? It's sure been taken great care of!

As a side note, I've always wondered when C-Dory went from the "mill finish" windows (which had other different details as well), to the white ones. I had looked at a 1990 when I was 22 shopping and it had the mill finish. Now I see this 1992 has the white windows. So the change must have been in 1991 or 1992.

A note on the last four digits of the VIN.

A292 doesn't mean January 2, 1992. The first two numbers of the four actually show the month and year the hull was laid. A=January, B=February, etc. So this hull was laid in January (A) of 1992 (2). The last pair (92) is model year, so it's a 1992 boat. But they don't always "match." For example, my boat has a last four of something like K102. This means the hull was laid in November of 2001 and the boat is a 2002 model year.
