Note: I do not own this boat or have any financial interest here. The owner has had it for 15+ years, and has used it every year for fishing. This last year he was unable to (for health reasons), take it out. He is getting elderly and is/was single handing.

My first C Dory was a 1982 Angler with original 70 hp Johnson
Even though the time came for me to upgrade I still have strong feelings of attachment for that solid ole boat--my first C Dory. I don't know if you ever get over that. Still have its picture up in my office.

If anyone wants to see how those boats run in the water the video link is still active on YouTube "Popeye 1982 Angler"

If you turned the clock back I would buy it Harvey.
Good luck on your sale.

Cheers to the good ole days!

David and Val

Hi David and Val,

Wow, if I could turn the clock back, well ..... not going to happen but some fun remembering.

Here is a link to the youtube video you mentioned.

NOTE: this is a "sistership" to the 1981 listed for sale.

It i one of those bargains which comes along rarely. One has to assume that the engines check out, no serious issues in the hull, but it looks like a very well cared for boat.

The disadvantage is that the boat does not have the full cruiser interior, but with a camper back, you can still cruise very well--even for a period of time.

Sure there are some niceties in newer boats, but this looks like a gem, especially for fishing!

How come no one has bought this boat/bargain?

Maybe folks are suspicious of a boat that is offered so cheaply?

Also, it is a bit of a utility/no frills model, as Bob points out.

Would be a blank canvas in the hands of someone familiar with C-Dorys and wanting to do a custom boat for fishing or even cruising.

Great idea Joe. There looks to be enough room to put a small sink, and water tank on one side, enough room for a one burner stove on the other--even put a table on a pedestal between the two swivel seats, and you are set up for cruising in comfort! Then plenty of room in the cockpit for any "guests or kids"...

I was made aware of this boat a couple of months ago when someone from church asked me about the local C-Dory for sale. Turns out it was posted in the local paper, and the few who came to look, were not familiar with C-Dory price or quality, and offered some very lowball $$$.

It came across my radar the second time when someone else asked about it again. I actually thought it was probably a different boat because at that price I thought it was sold already.

So I went and looked, and offered to Jack, that it might move better if it were posted on C-BRATS. The circulation is considerably better, (801 views in the last 2 weeks). I know he has had several calls, and I had a guy stop me in the parking lot in PT Boat haven today to ask about my boat and if I knew anything about an older one in the area. He had seen it posted here.

The boat looks sound to me, with no big scratches or dents in the hull, the glass could handle some polish, but it appears to be seaworthy. I actually thought it was worth more than the 16.5 but he said since he had listed it there already, that's where it would stay. The trailer looks nearly new, Jack is a straight up guy, and has treated his boat well. He is getting to the point where he feels it is not a good idea for him to be single handing any more -- he has seen 85 summers) so is electing to pass on his favorite fishing pal.

If someone want more specific pictures, I would be happy to accommodate with them via email from my phone.

The 1981 C-Dory 22 ft Classic for $16,500 in Port Angeles, WA has been sold.

Thank you to those who expressed interest and support. The registered owner, Jack, came by today and left me something to express his thanks, and add to the tip jar. At 83, he is a very spry, sharp, wise and knowledgeable mariner, who has really enjoyed his C-Dory.
