Dan & Judy are here. Thataway, the dirt yacht pulled in ( only a little tree trimming necessary!). Marc is hard at work peeping food. Weather is perfect! Party starts tomorrow with a fantastic dinner, preceded by cocktail hour! You all come on down!

Well, we're on the way, despite some wind and the water's choppy, getting over 1.8 MPG at 71.3 knots by GPS at 1900 RPM, Eileen at the helm, I've got the radio's, comm, nav and texting.

Marc, that TomCat would fly with a couple of 429 HP V8s.
Cheers!
John

John-

No need for any 429's!

You're already doing 71.3 knots at 1900rpm on two 150's!

Should be up to about 200 knots by 6000!

Let us know if you notice any con-trails off the TomCat! (And get a photo or two!) Laughing

Yo Joe,
A careful reading will reveal that I never claimed we were in the boat, heh heh...we took the Genesis 5.0, which does truthfully get over 1.8 MPG (but not a heckofalot more, especially in the city, with a single 429 HP VCool.
Cheers!

Just returned home through a major downpour, though the weather at the gathering was perfect. As usual, Mark prepared a seafood, and chicken, and roast pig extravaganza including things that I had never tasted before. We met many old familiars as well as a few new faces, and one, "just bought this new 22" captain who was smiling from ear to ear. Thanks to all who were on hand to make this gathering so enjoyable and especially to Mark for all his efforts.

I have put a few photos on the photo site. What a great gathering. Marc, kept up his culinary skills, and a great roast in the box, pig, chicken, even scored some very rare (these days) big Apalachicola Oysters!

The gathering was about 30 attendees, and another 5 or so of Marc's crew. A big shout of thanks to those at the gathering who also helped with food prep (including my beautiful bride Marie). Few realize how much putting on this type of gathering costs, and we pass the hat to help Marc defray the costs of a number of thousands of dollars. We got an all time high of donations, and thank all who contributed!

This year was our 9th gathering in ten years ! Thanks everybody , it was great to see an NMI C Dory go into the wild , and great to carry on the tradition !

Truly was a great gathering at Apalachicola! C-Dory folks are the best! Old friends and new. Had a chance to talk with Bob, John and others that had given me good advice in the past and new ideas for the C-Otter. It was a joy to talk to Steven who bought that NEW 22. Not only did he love his new C-Dory but he remarked on all the helpful new friends he made! Mite have even tempted him to come down to the St. Johns River gathering in March!

A BIG THANKS to Marc and all his helpers! I know a little about what it takes to host a gathering and they all get an A+! Looking forward to attending again in the future.

Thanks Tom

PS..Marc has a selection of great NEW and used boats at Wefings. Now.... if only I could figure out how to fit the New Tom Cat in the 11 foot door in my hanger......... Laughing
