That boat has been listed off and on Yachtworld. Com for the past 5 or 6 months. It also was listed on Ebay at least 8 times with no bids over $32,000. After many calls someone finally returned my call last Oct. and said that they had many interested buyers at $39,900 and the price was firm. It has no trailer and has been sitting for awhile. |

I'm just shocked the motors only have 80 hours on them after 13 years of service. I'd be more comfortable if they had many more hours.
Maybe a good deal for someone, I think, but a trailer will be $$ |

It is a good deal--but, the carbs are going to need rebuilding--so figure that in. The trailer will probably be close to 8 K for a good float on. You might find one a little cheaper. The Honda 90 is going to be at the lower HP range--most had 115 Yamaha, which was an ideal motor. I would be skeptical of the 36 knots (Maybe 36 statute if very light).
The bigger issue, is a Spring Valley CA address/contact, and the boat is in New Jersey? That rings bells for me. Yes, they are a donation expeditor, but they have no direct contact with the boat, and only represent a charity for a fee. I would try and find the owner thru DMV in New Jersey and see what the deal on the boat is. I would certainly want to look at the boat and do some very careful hull inspection. A boat in New Jersey, which is not shrink wrapped, will be subject to snow, freeze and thaw. Any water in the core will have expansion and contraction issues. Both an ultrasound, moisture meter, and FLIR camera should be used in the mandatory survey for the person who buys this boat. _________________ Bob Austin

A good deal indeed, even with the need for a new trailer. I would agree that 115's are a better motor choice. I have Fuel injected Honda 135's and they provide plenty of power, even though they are a bit heavier than the 115's. Top speed for us is around 38 MPH, but that is fully loaded with water, fuel, and 2 adults. Cruising speed is more like 28 mph at 2.4 mpg.
While we loved our first 22' Cruiser, the 24' Tomcat is a completely different boat. It has the speed, range, and hull design to handle much more adverse conditions. This year we have visited all of the Channel Islands, except San Nicholas and the Tomcat has proven to be an excellent vessel for exploring Southern California's offshore treasures.
A little motivation for a prospective buyer:
