We are thinking about updating our autopilot system and since we have all Raymarine equipment, we are considering the Raymarine EV-100. From what I have been able to research on this system it should work well on a 22 Cruiser and It would be nice to do away with the rudder position sensor as the EV-100 does not require one.
I would be interested to hear from any other C-Dory 22 owners who have this system on their boats as to the actual performance.

Thanks

Doug & Susan

Hi Doug,

Love mine. I hardly ever turn the big wheel anymore. I usually use the point and go method -- (hit the auto button when the boat is pointing in the direction I want to go,) but have to be careful in a cross tidal current run though. That method does not correct for the side slip provided by the current. For long crossings, the "Go to Waypoint" method puts in the crabbing needed to make the point --provided you aren't adjusting for the floaters and not correcting the cross track.

If you want to take a look, you are welcome.

Harvey

Sounds good Harvey. This is what I want to hear. This system sounds so simple and it is the most affordable out there and of course should be very compatible with existing Raymarine equipment. I am just looking for some positive reviews before we pull the trigger. We've got to get together one of these days so I can check out your boat. Were off to Neah Bay this weekend. We wont get to go to the Friday harbor get together due to work schedules and we'll be camping on memorial day. We will catch up to you eventually.
Thanks
Doug

I'm try to figure out the parameters for the EV-100 on my CD25.

If you've had a successful installation on a 25, may I ask what values you used for:

Rudder limit & hardover time

Ferg,

My EV-100 was installed by the guys at Roger's Marine in Portland. I think Doug did his own install. Both were on 22's. Likely you will get some response from some 25 owners shortly.

I'll have to update that "lengthy" discussion Bob referenced earlier, but I did have the chance to use my EV-100 salmon trolling a few weeks ago. Didn't work so well. Trolling at 3 mph, with smooth (for Lake Michigan, vs. chop) 2-3 ft rollers off the Quarter Bow or Stern, the autopilot had a hard time keeping me on course. So while it kept me straight long enuf to go back and pull or drop lines, I couldn't leave it by itself for long. All my other comments as to advantages/disadvantages stand. (In that other thread).

Thank you. I have not done the software upgrade. I will call Raymarine today to see if this could be the cause, although I'd be surprised if that wasn't the first thing they asked when we spoke with them yesterday

I just looked at what the new "HydroBalance System" does for me on my boat. Since what I have works well, and I don't have the issues it "fixes", I think I will probably pass on this "Update". Basing that decision on my need vs what happens when I update other "computer stuff" like my phone Twisted Evil
