Hi C-Brats , I am leaving for 2 1/2 weeks fishing trip up north of Vancouver Island. Should I leave my floor behind, this will be my first fishing trip in my 22 cruiser? Gary SEA RAM |

Well heck- if you leave your floor behind,,, what are you going to stand on???
Leave'm in. When you start bringing in the fish and bleedin and gilling 'em, you need somewhere for the blood and water to go---- don't forget to turn on the bilge pump.
Take'em out when you get home and clean the deck. _________________ Roger

Same old DogOnDan, always looking to lend a hand.
As long as the subject matter has been brought up.....namely floorboards, I have a suggestion. Be very careful when they get wet. Thats all it takes for them to be very slick. Ex: If you're leaning out to tend a downrigger you're shoes may separate from that gelcoat floor. I am using a light carpet on mine now but next year they will be painted and generously speckled with crushed walnut shells.
The real point of the story is.........Dan would probably appreciate the traction treatment on your boards along with your street address. He's an engineer you know and those guys are really fussy! _________________ Mark on Mighty Bite |

I say leave them floor boards behind. For good. I really liked the bare bottom of my CD22. I had some 3/4" self draining floor mat at the front of the cockpit covering half the floor. I would toss the fish on the bare section, and then wash the slime to the aft bilge pump. It worked great. Every once in a while, I would pick up the mats (two pieces with a no-trip bevel on the aft edge) and dunk them over the side to rinse them.
It looked like this:
The CD25 has the cursed raised deck, and I can't use those mats or the door won't open. I still have a big piece of the stuff, and the first one of you AK hotshots that gets here can have it. I'll even throw in the snap on beveled edging. _________________ TyBoo Mike

For those concerned with slick floorboards, I just returned from a trip using my homemade floorboards. They are 1/2" ply with cedar stringers and painted with Interlux Interdeck polyurathane non-skid deck paint. It works very well. Has a good feel even to bare feet and is extremely sure footed even with rain and fish slime. _________________ Ken Trease
