Thanks everyone for the food turn out. We will have a good meal on Monday evening to kick off the Catalina week! Below is the food summary.

1. Jim & Kath – Pounder (Steaks to BBQ)
2. John & Robbin - Dinner Belle II
3. Steve & Carmen - Dora-Jean (not there Monday)
4. Kent & Marcia - Marcia Jane (Cheese, Crackers, Potato Chips, Corn Chips, Dip and Salsa)
5. Floyd & Eiko - FarC'r (may not be there Monday)
6. Heinz & Diane - Lighthouse Express (Macaroni Salad)
7. Joel & Susan - SEA3PO (Desert and Ice Cream)
8. Pedro & Eileen - C-Casa (Green Salad and Dressing)
9. Bob & Marie – Thataway (Garlic Bread and Corn, with Foil and Butter).

Looks like we will have 7 or 8 boats for Monday evening. Plan on food for 16 people (includes a few possible kids). John and Robbin will also likely bring some food on Monday.

Looking forward to seeing everyone on either Sunday and/or Monday.

Jim & Kath

I just got home last night from a 14 day motorcycle trip to Billings Montana... had a great time...especially on the Beartooth Pass... it was hailing...blowing 40 knots and terrible riding conditions...it was super fun.. I had not expected so much rain... I packed for heat... had to stop at a Cabella's and buy some Frog Togs....

We are leaving this morning for Catalina... first to Southern California to pick up the boat..give er a quick wash and we will launch at Channel Islands... and motor over.. I always enjoy that run...last year we had a whale come alongside.,.. it was fun..

See ya'all there

Joel, Susan and the dogs....Roxie and Emma

Thanks Joel. See you and Susan at Catalina.

I want to hear all about your Montana BMW trip. My friends Ken and Marcia also went and they drove out and back 2 days each way from Sacramento!

John and Robbin are bringing for Monday night BBQ Capressi Tomatoes (her heirlooms with Mozzarella cheese topped with Dogtown EVOO gold medal olive oil and Balsamic vinegar).

See you all at Two Harbors. Looking forward to some Buffalo Milk!

Our plan is launch at Huntington Harbor, Sunset Aquatic Park Sunday. We have overnight reservations at Rainbow Harbor Long Beach (inner Shoreline Marina). Alamitos bay does not have any transient slips available, because of 200 slip renovations, Sunset aquatic doest not have any vacancies. (I had the feeling that there were political overtones with that--if you were a friend of the management, they might find a slip). We will leave for the Isthmus early Monday AM, after we return the gate key ($50 deposit!).

Marie will bring 20 ears of corn, ready to go on the grill. Plenty of Garlic
Bread. We will probably return to the Mainland on Thursday. Unfortunately our grandson has a doctor's appointment on the 4th, and there is not any way his mother can get him on the cattle boat on the 5th. (They have to be out of their house on the 6th, and leave for 2 years in London on the 10th.)

Steve (Dora-Jean)

Consider bringing your scuba diving stuff when you come later on in the week. I have packed mine with me for this trip just in case there is a dive opportunity.

I have been told that the waters are several degrees warmer than normal.

Looks as if the water temp is about 75--that is a few degrees higher than "usual'--We are bringing swim suits (although us Floridians, generally don't get in water less than 80 degrees!

May be some patchy fog in the AM's, and daytime temps in the mid 70's, night time temps in the low to mid 60's--and the usual "Isthmus Draft" thru the anchorage.

Wish I could still dive! One of my favorite places is off Arrow Point. But even the Harbor reef offers both good diving and snorkeling!

We is packed and the boat ready to launch in the mid morning Sunday. (as soon as we make sure a car we sold is going to its new owner--and too late to get over to the Island before the chop builds up).

Hi Everyone,

Unfortunately we were unable to make the trip down the coast this year, but we will still try to drop in by ferry for a few days.

The cost of round-trip ferry from San Pedro and three nights at Banning Lodge is over $850. Add in the additional cost of eating at restaurants and our little boats suddenly seem quite thrifty.

Well, here's a picture of Two Harbours at the Catalina Isthmus. The string line is within the black rectangle in the middle of the pic. The bluff blocks most of it, but you can see a couple of C-Brats. The picture comes from the Two Harbours camera. That dark line at the top is Palos Verde on the mainland.

Thisaway left a day early, to have some time with my grandchildren, as their parents were moving out of their home. They are leaving to live in London for two years on Monday, so this was a last time for solo time with the grandkids.

We had a great time, and again want to thank Jim and Kath on Pounder for both the organization and the wonder Fillet Mignon's on Monday night! It ended up that we didn't eat any of the food we brought for ourselves! Soo much great food food on Monday, another group of young folks ate what we had left over! Even then there was enough from all for another pot luck on Thursday night, with fresh fish provided by John, Robin and Heinz! Nothing better than fresh fish!

Tuesday we had dinner with the crews of Sea3PO and Lighthouse Express at Doug's reef. Wednesday, we prevailed on the crew of the cafe after hours, to sell us a couple of salads which were our dinner!

Lots of great walks, and fun visiting old friends, as well as making new ones!

David, Donald, and Eric did make it to the Island for a couple of days, without a boat. (Staying at Banning Lodge) Unfortunately Donald had to be medevaced to Torrance Memorial Hospital by chopper, and last I heard was in satisfactory condition.

We had a bit of chop about the last 1/3 of the trip home, and then a delay as Anaheim Landing Naval Weapons (Seal Beach--Huntington Harbor) was closed due to transit of a warship. Friday night we both collapsed at about 5 PM, and didn't wake up until about 9:30PM.

Photos to follow shortly!

Thanks again to all who made this a great adventure--see you at Powell!

Even though Eiko and I were only able to stay for the Potluck on Monday it was really great to see everyone and to meet some new faces. This trip will definitely will become a Far C'r tradition and lucky for us it is right on our doorstep.

I put together a You Tube video of the trip from our perspective. This time not a 2 hour extravaganza Smile

https://youtu.be/mrQNb459vzY

Thanks again to Jim and Kathy and everyone else that had a part in putting this together we feel amazed to be a part of something this Kool!

Thanks to all who attended this years's 14th Annual Island Party. Really special thanks to everyone, as noted below.

Floyd and Eiko, special thanks for the nice Catalina trip video. It is well edited and presented.

John and Robbin and Heinz, special thanks for the fish fry on Thursday night. What a treat having the fresh fish.

Dr. Bob and Marie, special thanks for coming all the way from Florida and Bob's expert intervention help with Eric. Marie, we really enjoyed the fresh corn that you provided.

David and Donald special thanks for your extraordinary effort to attend without a boat and stay at the Banning House.

Heinz and Diane special thanks for all those home made tamales, they were to die for.

Joel and Susan special thanks for the ice cream social on Wednesday night. That was a new and welcome addition to our agenda.

Pedro and Eileen special thanks for making the effort to come under difficult personal circumstances and for the two gigantic dinner salads.

Kent and Marcia special thanks for again making the effort to come and for all the nice snacks and dips.

God willing, hopefully next year we can have our 15th Year Blow-Out party at Two Harbors. Who would have thought that his event would have gone on for so long? Even the 24 year olds on the beach wanted to know how we 60, 70, and 80 year olds were having such a good time after they sailed over for their own party.

See you all next year!

Jim & Kath
