Hi All,
Jan, Caryn and I are in the early stages of planning a CBGT in Poulsbo this June. We're planning the gathering to be held next June 2015, hopefully either the first or third weekend, depending on if those dates are still available given the last marina update.
Just giving you a heads up for your cruise planning for 2015. More details to follow.

I remember going to a Poulsbo gathering many years ago. It was a great spot, right downtown. The hit for me though was the beautiful new Ranger 21 tug that Les brought down. Thanks for reviving this fine venue. _________________ MartyP

Real good news Peter, Caryn, Jon & Stacey! Poulsbo is a real nice location indeed.
Summer is sure sounding like its shaping up well between Friday Harbor, Poulsbo, Ladysmith, and Bellingham.
Hope to see most of you at the SBS Gathering in the meantime.
Take care,

Thanks for getting this started Peter, It is a neat place for docking, and eating. Not so much for launching, but it is not impossible. I guess John Wayne and PT really have me spoiled.
I have been in there several times and Poulsbo is a nice facility with a pretty good fish and chips place.
I'd vote for the first weekend, (due to other commitments on the third and fourth), but would make an effort for either if at all possible. My goal this year is to set a new record for me for nights on the boat, and the CBGT's really increase the fun factor.

As Harvey mentioned, Poulsbo is not the greatest launch point since its ramp is fairly restrictive maneuvering wise (it's in a strange location) and parking is almost negligble. However; for those who might trailer their boats to the area, the nearby Port of Brownsville (about a 6 mile cruise one way trip away) has a couple of pretty good ramps (a bit tide sensitive though) and a huge, sprawling, seemingly pretty safe, parking lot for trucks and trailers. Poulsbo is also a pretty centralized location for a cruise destination for much of the Puget Sound.
Not sure what the current rules, regs, and fees, are related to parking there at Brownsville, but in the past they would allow one to park there for it seems to me ~ 48 hours w/ a paid boat launch (don't hold me to it). Still, parking there would be much more abundant and plentiful then in Poulsbo and likely not too expensive.
Regrettably, in the past the Brownsville marina did not have a hose to rinse a trailer or boat afterwards though.
All in all though, Poulsbo is an extremely pleasant town w/ the marina smack dab in the middle of things and very convenient to the downtown shops and restaurants and also has a fuel dock. Definitely a wonderful choice for a CBGT location so thanks a lot for stepping up to have this gathering!
Thanks,

This gathering sounds great!
Kingston is an option for launching.
Here is some info on their boat launch.
Boat Launch
Our boat launch has a double lane launch ramp that is open to the public 7 days a week 24 hours per day and is usable at most tides except extreme lows. Use of the boat launch is free. There is a cost of $5 for a 12 hour period to park your truck and trailer. The pay box is located next to the boat launch ramp. _________________ Patrick and Kim Walker

Port Orchard has a nice launch, too, for those coming from the South. I think the launch and parking is free. _________________ Rick & Shirley

Thanks all for the great interest so far in the proposed CBGT in Poulsbo!!
As Peter initially mentioned, we have not set a date yet so a sign-up sheet may be a little premature. Peter, Caryn and I are planning on meeting next week to see if we can firm things up a bit. Once we have the date set with the marina we can get the sign-up sheet going. Looking forward to seeing everyone and thanks again for all the interest.
