Starting a new thread for this subject. Here's what I started in another thread(hijacked )

[Why are we discussing electrical safety/probs In a thread titled "Shelves/Drawers advice"??? Shore plugs safety is important subject but deserves its own thread. I'm as guilty as anyone high jacking ( I doing that here!) and have been rebuffed (rightly) for doing so! In fact I'm going to pursue this in a new thread right now!]

Shore cord safety deserve its own thread! We have a great source of C-Dory wisdom on this website-I'm just trying to make it easier to access in the future. I probably will want to find this info in the future and with it hidden in another subject it will make it harder to find. My technical skills are lacking- I only know how to do simple searches- but I'm sure I'm not the only one. Also the person starting a thread that is latter hijacked doesn't always get full treatment.
All of this is with due respect to those who added to the hijack. Lots of experience was represented there and it is subject that rates carefully consideration--in its own appropriately titled thread.

From the original poster - "Hijack away...I appreciate all the info provided." But seriously is blue the best color for a boat or black? Wink

Mr. Green Actually, once you put your subject matter in the little search box, it's going to bring up just about any discussion related to the subject. Hard part is if it's a really long thread, and you have to search several pages of it.

my grandpa was an electrician. In the early days of electricity the local native American tribe had a communal bathroom that they wanted some electricity ran to & hired him...he was the first man to wire a head for reservations.

The spousal units grandpa was the man behind the field testing of many of the early hybrid vehicles.....he farmed with mules

What are we supposed to be discussing anyway? I might want reference this later especially if I need a electrician with reservation experience.

I have reservations about all of this. Wink But, the Smart Plug is a good way to go. We did have to replace one, though.

Was it not smart enough, or what? I'm about to install shore power on my 22 and have a smart plug and receptacle., guess I'll use it....

Hi Charlie,

One of the plastic supports inside the plug broke, allowing one wire to pull out... it shorted and burned the plug. The plug itself was never "pulled", so I don't think it was because of misuse. I did not wire that one. The current one seems plenty solid and should not have that issue. Install it - it's a good system.
