Thanks Rich. I don't know if we will go back in Sept. We are looking into taking the RV to Nova Scotia in the middle of Sept. and following the fall colors home.
I've just posted a section on Fort Stanwix. This will be of particular interest to history buffs.

Thanks for the great pictures George and Penny. We'll miss you at the canal in September....but Nova Scotia in a Born Free....well that sounds pretty good to us. We did Newfoundland and Nova in 2000 with ours and it was a blast. Some day I'd like to try the Bras O'or lakes in our C-Dory. Now THAT would be fun!

Pat,
Why don’t you plan to travel with us. This winter or early spring, tow that two-winged byrd of yours down to the keys and let’s explore the back side of the Everglades and on up into Pine Island Sound and the Florida ICW. You’ve got plenty of time to put it together. Heck, we’ll even put you and your bride up in the condo before or after we take off. If the weather turns bad, remember, Marathon prides itself as a quiet little drinking town with a fishing problem.
Speaking of towing. What is the latest on the tow rig? |

Dun and Becky,
I’m glad you enjoyed the pictures. Soon, I’ll be posting some on the western end of the canal. If you want to first see the sights over your own deck, don’t look until you return. On the other hand, an image may whet you anticipation. At the very least, you can inspect docks for water and electricity.
The timing of your Erie Canal cruise is better than ours was. The temperature and humidity were both near 90, for the whole trip, with the chance of thunderstorms varying between 30 and 60 percent.
After your endorsement, we went on line and ordered info on Nova Scotia. Yes, the Born Free is a nice way to travel. One day we need to try a combo of RV and C-Dory. Any ideas?
We'll miss being with you folks. |

Penny and George,
Yes, central NY can be brutal in July and August. At least thunderstorms can be coped with on the canal. You're never out in the open.
As far as RVing and C-Dorying go, I think the North Channel of Lake Huron, and Manatoulin Island would be perfect for both. I hope to do that soon. The Thousand Islands and the canadian canals are also on the wish list, but you've probably had your fill of canals for one year. Unfortunately, We do not have your luxury of unlimited time, and cannot "wander" as you do. I'm very jealous. Soon...soon!
Enjoy Nova Scotia and Cape Breton. We'll look forward to pictures.

Dun and Becky,
Have you found good campgrounds, with ramps, from which to launch C-Dory day trips among the Canadian waterways?
We would like to try the RV and the C-Dory in combination. Keep us posted. |

Two new sections, from miles 114 to 201, complete my postings for the Erie Canal east of the Cayuga-Seneca Canal.
I hope to have the western portion finished in a few days.
